  • vinyl flooring??

so our dogs nails have destroyed the hardwood floors in the house. the way I see it, I have 4 options, 1) kill the dog 2)concrete floors 3)laminate(had laminate in old house with a big rotty and zero scratches, but it was loud) 4) vinyl flooring that looks like wood. Im leaning towards the vinyl as I believe it will be quieter and warmer than the other options. anyone have any info for me?

    god bless.

My cousin just laid that fake wood looking vinyl in their bedrooms and he said it was easy and it is waterproof which means easy cleaning. Concrete would be great if you didnt have flooring down already but as I underdtand it prepping used concrete to do stain and seal is a large pain in the ass so that might be too much trouble. That said shooting the dogs and living with the damage that is already there is the cheapest option and also less work.

          Paul,

They make Tile that looks like wood ! That would be my first option.
Second option would be a laminate , they can be louder , however, they are very
          resilient.

THird option, The Vinyl Plank like you described. They range from cheap to commercial grade, obviously the good commercial grade looks real and performs awesome.

What type of wood is down now ? can you sand and finish, or screen and recoat ?

My cousins have the vinyl plank flooring in their restaurant and it has held up really well for a number of years now.

Vinyl Plank is glued to the floor, Laminate is floating.
HOWEVER, they do have a floating vinyl plank. Best on second stories and houses with foundation issues.

did you correct me, just to turn around and say the same shit i said?! mine is floating vinyl plank, i used some special double sided tape in the corners and around any elevation changes, but the rest floats, and i did it because i have yet to fix the foundation on the house. (not sure i am going to)

Whats up Hector! I believe I could sand and redo them, but with my OCD id wind up doing it every other weekend. also the laminate I bought from you like 10yrs ago is still in my old house and still looks like new!

what brand did you use, where from?? the stuff I saw was just sticky on the back, the laminate plank I laid in the old house was tongue & groove and it never gave any issues.

                        god bless.

no clue the brand but the color is Acacia and it gets lots of compliments for being as cheap as it was. It came from a supplier in the design district off regal row
