Of course if you don't have the days off to take then you don't have the days. If I'm still with Halliburton, I'm taking enough time to do at least that far, OKC. If I'm overseas and can get home in time, I'll do the whole thing.

I'm already planning a chase vehicle like I used last time so if the ride gets too uncomfortable for our daughter she can hop in the truck. My sister might actually be bringing her 40' coach and car hauler and one of their cars to cruise. My brother can either drive the coach or my truck, which ever goes.
I may change my mind, but taking more than a couple of days off work, even though I have vacation time, really blows on commission, since there isnt anything going out when you get back. My buddy took the last week of the year off, and I thought he might slit his wrists when he came back to nothing. He just had his first kid yesterday, so he'll be off another week now, too.

I kinda feel like If I go to OKC, I might as well not stop, and if Im going all the way, I might as well start in Louisiania, and pretty soon, it got expensive.

I might have to do the Texas part, I can't go to Gonzales LA, its too close to Natchitoches and they've been looking for my dumb ass for sometime, I doubt they have forgot about me...

This is the motivation to get my 1982 GT Finished up. We ended up driving with a bunch of the cars on our way back from Nebraska one year and it was great.

                      Power Tour 101....

I see that there will be a few Long Haulers from here, so let me give this piece of advice.
IF you are doing the whole thing you need to get to the venue Saturday early enough in the afternoon that you get your credentials stamped. Then, every day the only thing you NEED to do is get to the venue and get stamped.

My heartfelt advice is to get to Gonzales either Friday night, or make it 1/2 way there and then roll in in the early afternoon.
That 1st day ALWAYS draws the most cars and if you roll in too late all you have time to do is finalize registration and see about 1/10th of what is there.

MSD started it, and other sponsors have followed with having daily magnet giveaways and then a plate or frame for them on the last day. Kinda cool if you like keepsakes like that.

Many of the sponsors have all kinds of giveaways, so take the time to hit them all, get them to mark off the credential (NOT the same as clocking in)

Remember, it's a Cruise, not a race. Relax and enjoy.

The daily sit-down at the Main Stage is also a place to hang out and maybe win stuff like mufflers, wheels, trips to Vegas (Painless), etc.
Then, the parking lot of every hotel within miles is a car show unto itself. You just may find yourself hanging out in the parking lot drinking and talking cars with guys from 5 or 6 different states, maybe even from out of country.
Then do it again, and again.....

I hope to meet up with and drink a beer with as many of you as I can.

                      See Ya.

There is a pretty decent sized group of us picking it up in Baytown, and we're planning to go all the way to Kansas with them. My nova has 3.73's with no OD, but luckily it also has a 9" under it, so a gear change is easy enough. I scored a third-member with some 2.43's...that should make hwy driving more palatable.

We are gonna do the long haul this year. I think it's our 5th.

We have a bunch of cars going...54 Chevy 3100 with a Duramax, 60 Impala with a supercharged LS, 64 Ford wagon, 72 Chevelle...and I'm doing everything possible to get my 67 Continental with the TT Coyote completed. Otherwise it'll be the Viper Truck or a wagon of some sort if I can find one.
