It was 8 years, but yeah. I dealt with it for a while but it's really started inhibiting life in the last year or so

I tore my ACL and sprained my MCL back in 2005 playing football. My doc had me do physical therapy for a while before the surgery, just to get the supporting muscles stronger to prepare for it. They then replaced my ACL with an achilles tendon from a cadaver. They made 4 tiny scars around my knee that you can't even see to this day. I've been to other docs who had a hard time believing that I had even had ACL surgery. That said, the recovery and physical therapy was excrutiating. It took about a year before I felt good and confident on that knee.

I went back to paying football again in 2007, and fucked up my other knee. I decided not to have surgery that time, and instead decided to just stop playing ball. It was a tough decision, but I want to be able to get around decently when I'm an old fart. The doc told me from the very beginning that surgery wasn't necessary (even with a full tear) if I didn't plan on playing ball again. He said the knee would eventually stabilize itself and stop hurting/swelling, so you could walk fine, but you just won't be able to make cuts like you would in sports without it failing and maybe fucking up other stuff.

I have since tweaked each of my knees a couple of times doing various things, like playing soccer (stupid idea), jumping over tiny puddles in a parking lot, and arm wrestling (yes, arm wrestling). They will swell up and hurt like hell for a few days, and sometimes I'll have to be on crutches for a week or two. Crutches suck!

Other than that, my knees don't hurt and I forget I ever had issues, but I don't do anything crazier than hiking around in the mountains. Stairs will give me a small reminder at times, and I damn sure don't jump off of my tailgate or anything like that anymore.

I've been thinking about skiing soon, but your post makes me second guess that.

          Good luck!

I think you're forgetting an injury, about 9 years ago.

Is there any of them that work? Iv progressively gotten more and more inflexible as Iv gotten older and have started a daily stretch/yoga deal. I know that Ill get more and more limber the more I stretch but Im horrible right now. When I try to touch my toes with straight legs I can touch about 3" below my knees and thats

LOL at driving my GT. Sucks that won't be driving it for awhile, hell driving period. Yea, buddies told me about the rough rehab after ACL surgery. Trust me, I'll make sure to do rehab how they tell me. Here in a couple hours, I'll know for sure what the MRI will tell me. Hope it's better news that what he told me from his preliminary tests....fingers crossed.

Just do the rehab and you'll be fine. I had both ACL's replaced and went back to playing competitive sports and snow skiing. Best of luck!

                          FUCK YEA!!!!!!!!!!!

                          No torn ACL.

Strained ACL. Some fluid in the area. Possibly few fibers gone, but all good.

MCL is partially torn, which should heal on it's own. Grade 2 is what is written on the report. Have to go back in 2 weeks to follow up on my ankle. He mentioned ostrigonum injury.

You will heal up and be alright. I have had to have my ACL & MCL replaced twice, meniscus trimmed twice all in the same knee.

Just got our of surgery, they removed 50% of my meniscus and all of the plica in my right knee. Gonna be laid up until tomorrow but then I'll get up and start moving on crutches.

So far I'm doing better than expected. Walking with very slight limp. Like 99.5% from being able to fully extend leg. I'm able to bend knee little past 90 degrees. Started using machines this week with PT. 3rd week of PT. All is healing real good.
