  • Diverticulitis!

Had lower abdominal pain all day yesterday. Was in bed by 830 PM and up half the night in pain. Thought it was gas pain but when it for worse and not better I came to the ER this morning and found out I have diverticulitus.

So Happy New Year from the ER!

I feel your pain man. I got hit with it a couple of years ago and have periodic attacks due to bad eating choices. If you eat the right things it can be pretty controllable. Sorry you're having to screw with it...sucks for sure.

Right on man. Thanks a lot that's what they told me as well stay away from seeds and try to get moreand fiber. I'm glad I went to the ER instead of just trying to blow it off and power through it. In the back of my mind I was pretty sure there was something wrong besides having to fart or drop a deuce!

I have diverticulosis (so far have avoided -itis) and eaten pretty much in an Atkins/Paleo style for the past four years with no issues from it.

Sorry to hear that Chris. I had chronic diverticulitis from late 2001 through December 2002. Ended up spending Christmas through New Years in the hospital having a colon resection. Getting Diverticulitis sucks so let me know if you need a recommendation for a good Dr. My guy is at Baylor Dallas.

                  Sorry to heard that.

I had GERD so bad one time I though I was having a heart attack. However, I'll take that over Diverticulitis any day.

                  Good luck.

Thanks Dewey I am going to be looking for a gastro doc for sure but I'm way over in Crowley so if you're in touch with him maybe he knows one over here. I'll see who my primary care doc can refer me too as well.

I haven't hurt that bad since I had a kidney stone years ago. I wasn't able to stand up straight due to the pain.

I use Dr. Julian Armstrong at the Gastro office across from Harris Southwest - I really like him - he figured out what was going on with me.

Those are the exact symptoms Iv been dealing with for for the past 3-4 months. Iv been to the dr 3 times and all 3 times Im told that its either indigestion or a kidney stone and theres nothing they can do about it. Iv had 2 intestinal blockages since 2010 that landed me in the hospital for 3 days each so I wonder if thats all related.

My mother almost died during her bout with this. Be careful Chris!

Yeah the ER doc pressed around on my lower left abdomen area and found the spot where the pain was most intense, then he ordered a CT scan, which identified it pretty quick.

So... If your pain seems to move around, comes and goes, but can be narrowed down to that lower left area below the belt, you could very well have it, and it's an infection that needs antibiotics to clear it up and pain meds in the meantime.

CT scan will tell for sure.

James I'm definitely gonna follow up with a gastro doc and get clear on what's to do to prevent future issues. I'm about 50 years old now, time to stay in top of stuff so I don't lose my colon!
