Just got off the phone with my wife's friend in Rowlett. Actic is totally gone, kids' rooms are destroyed, and a car in the collapsed garage is probably a loss. They all made it through it ok as they were in the house when it happened. She said it felt like hours when it really only lasted minutes."Self-government won't work without self-discipline." - Paul Harvey

I took a team in to the trailer park in that upper right corner looking for obvious dangers. Some of them were pickup and tossed over the adjoining trailer. One trailer looked to be completely flattened against the base of the water tower. Looking at all the big cables hanging off that water tower was kind of spooky thinking how scary it would be if they had power.

We build to current codes, most of which include wind shear requirements to help minimize the damage and I would assume that is the reason that the damage wasn't worse than it is.

That said, how can he actually tell that lower quality 2x4/2x6s were used in construction. I'm genuinely curious since I might end up buying a new house next summer.

This is the reason that we silicone our windows to the framing, in addition to nailing the flanges and then taping them with a waterproof membrane. The reason we use nothing but Hardie material fo all of our cornice work when many of our competitors are using cheaper OSB type materials.
I could go on and on and detail the quality that we try to build into our homes. If you look to buy, look for a highland homes neighborhood. There is a reason we win people's choice awards. I don't think you will find a better experience where build process is concerned and I KNOW you won't find a better after purchase experience. When I was doing warranty, I would find myself going to homes 10, 15, and 20 years old. Not because we did something wrong, but because we treat our homeowners with respect and feel at the very least they deserve our attention to their problem to ensure that we didn't do anything wrong and to give them guidance on how to remedy their problems.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
