  • Sister's car stolen..

My sister's car was stolen out of a valet. They are pretty sure they accidentally dropped their valet slip and someone picked it up and turned it in. Turns out her boyfriends wallet was in the car and the people set up an Amazon account and went out to eat with his CCs.. They had Lojack on the car, which they contacted and told them to search for the car

This was 2 days ago.. They filed a police report number(got Case #, Police officers name, and badge number) and called in and told the police about the CC and the restaurant name and stuff. The police said they would send out a detective to view the security footage and do what detectives do..

This morning they received a call from Lojack saying they located the vehicle. So they called the police and turns out that the police officer never filed the report, didn't report the car stolen, didn't activate Lojack on their end (which i guess they are supposed to do), and never sent out the detective to the restaurant.

Anything they can do to? They spoke to a Sergeant and he said that he would handle it and get back with them but wondering if there was anything else.

    Stolen Car

Probably nothing you can do. Remember, you can't fight city hall.

        oh yea, "dropped the slip"

sounds more like it was planned once they saw his wallet.

I would file a complaint on the detective.

I don't think they can because the ticket was turned in. Valet company has no way of knowing that the person turning in the ticket was not the owner of the car.

Good luck getting anything out of the valet company. File a complaint with the PD.

Sounds normal, I had a car stolen years ago and when I called a officer out to do a report he basically told me don't bother doing a report cause nothing will happen and just go look for your self. I found the car in Dallas and ended up being a board member that took it and knew exactly who and where he lived and they still didn't want to do shit. Oh and this was Dallas PD.

Police have no obligation to do anything for you or report anything at all.
