  • MacBook Air

Friend of mine bought a new MacBook Air, 128GB, 13" screen about 3 months ago from Best Buy on her credit card. She has no use for it know and asked if I wanted it. She owes $700 on it. I could use a newer laptop to replace my old outdated Windows one so I'm thinking of taking it off her hands. Would you guys pay $700 for a used one? It's in excellent condition with no scratches or anything.

I wouldn't, but I'm not an Apple guy...so probably not a good person to comment either.

I got jackie a macbook air, its a great laptop and awesome for being in apples environment. Doing snapshot backups are easy, and it integrates seamlessly with her phone. Unless you have a specific use case or other apple products, it might not be worth it for you. On the flipside, I got my macbook pro a little after i got my first iphone and it is probably what motivated me more to get additional apple products.

I have a iPhone 6 Plus. Only apple product I own. Surfing the web, paying bills, keeping my music and pics will be the main things I do with it.

sounds like a good fit, my wife has been using her mbair for the same stuff for the past few years, hell i use it all the time too when i dont to bust out my macbook pro, 128gb may be slim depending on how you manage music and pics, and warning, once you go mac....

I'll change my vote then...all things considered, it may be a good fit for you. They are sleek and nice looking machines. Also looks like you'd be saving a couple hundred bucks, and helping out a friend....bonus.

The MacBook Air is a dated laptop, it doesn't even have a retina display. I personally would spend an extra $200 and get a MacBook Pro. A far better computer for the money.

You're going to spend twice as much for a pro that is very similar in specs besides the Retina display. The air screen is fine for most things, just not the latest/greatest as far as resolution. It's a nice machine for $700.

How good of a picture do you really need on a 13" laptop?

OP has an Iphone 6 plus so he knows how good a retina display looks and how you would NOT want to use a non-retina Iphone like a 3gs or older because the screen sucks.

My BIL has an Ipad 2 and I have an Ipad Air 2. His screen looks terrible compared to mine.
