  • Totaled car, don't want to make a claim on my insurance

About two months ago I bought myself a brand new car. Kept my old car, a paid off 08 Mercury Milan. Last month I dropped full coverage down to liability. My sister asked if she could use the car cause she doesn't have one, and of course she totaled the car. Nobody was hurt and she didn't hit another car. Since I just had liability, nothing I can do right? Also I don't have to make a claim with my insurance do I? Any pros and cons to just having the car crushed?

Insurance protects you from a loss you can handle. Without full coverage there is no claim to fill for reimbursement.

You can beat her for it.
And part it out or something.

liability only pays for the damage to other property. collision coverage is what you would need for this. did your sister have any coverage?

if there is no coverage, just call some salvage buyers to come get it.

Prestige Auto Brokers is the easiest to deal with from personal experience. 214.697.7966

if there was no police report. just tow the car home and put a cover on it so the city does not start to fine you and get the salvage buyer to pick it up.

You're going to have to file a claim so they can pay for the personal property she damaged.

Or pay for the repairs directly.

Or even easier just post date the claim!

Cars with that type of damage are going for $700-$800 at auction right now, assuming it starts and runs.
