Expedited Passport options

You can do walk in service...the 3rd party places just go to the building for you, wait in line and submit your paperwork.

I went to the office in the Cabell Fed Building in Dallas, walked in, dealt with the BS, and walked out later that day with my papers.

That's what I did. Yes, I had to have papers showing that I was leaving within a couple weeks, but I think it took a day or two to get done. I did this back in January before I left for Antarctica.

You sound like a person that doesn't want to wait. But honest, I wouldn't pay anybody to expedite it. I would just wait until you have a ticket, book an appointment here in Dallas and pick it up a day or two after that. It's not like your company is going to purchase a next day ticket.

That is, of course, you have to have prove that your passport is good before they will extend you an offer. I'm going to be honest, I didn't read the whole thread.

Company may not even hire me with a passport set to expire in 6 months or less when both Somalia and Kenya require 6 months left to expire for their visa.

I actually fully expect my offer letter>fly to Greenville, SC for admin>fly to Somalia, to all happen with in a week's time or less. Their last offer for me to go to Liberia was requiring me to be in the air 2 days after they called me.

I'm going to gamble that I have 8 days to play with.

My wife and I got ours same day at the dallas office in 2010 or 2011. The Houston office had rejected 2 different sets of pictures. The dallas office said they were fine and issued the passports.

I had to get mine in 2 days so I went to the Dallas main office. Waited about 4 hours and walked out with it. I would suggest doing that because the 3rd party places are at least double the cost.

I recently used these guys to get my passport. Went to their office on Tuesday, had the passport on Friday. Pricey but my company sent me to them and covered all of the costs. You still have to go to the Post Office yourself after filing out all of the forms, they just handle all of the expediting to/from the Houston office and the paperwork. In my case I was planning a trip to China within 2 weeks that still hasn't happened. No actual travel ticket is needed, just a travel date & destination.

This is really something that a person could do himself if you understand the process. Having never had a passport before this was something that I didn't have a good comfort level with and didn't have time to deal with as I was traveling around the country on other business a lot at the time. Get started on this early in the day. It only took me a couple of hours but I did have the forms filled out before I went.

Got mine in 2 days pre-sep 11 though. However, I've known people to get it in stupid short times with some effort. (90% of the time due to their own lack of responsibility, they had to get it quick)

I tried every angle I could, they now require the actual purchased iteneray. I called all the 3rd party folks and everyone said the samething.

Edit : of course I called these people just now. Somehow they don't need the tickets. Oh well, too late now. I called between 7-10 other companies and got the same answer, no ticky no laundry.

I just left the post office and dropped our paperwork for the renewal. She said they quote 2-3 weeks but could be a lot less. I think I will be fine as long as it doesn't take 3 weeks.

Good to hear. Any word on when you fly out? I just got a job working with the City of Dallas, so it looks like I will finally be staying home for good. Looking forward to a 'normal' life.
