can anyone fact check for me when "PTSD" became mainstream? just looking for the date, please.

Originally posted by CJ View PostThe war in Iraq was a mistake, however, it was unavoidable. Saddam had a proven track record of deceit, manipulation, and war mongering. He absolutely could not be trusted. All intel pointed to him being up to his own tricks (and that resolution to go to war with Iraq absolutely wouldn't have had a chance unless the democrats also voted for it). It's very popular for Democrats to act as if they had nothing to do with it, but at the time, it was the American people, and our government in solidarity that voted that war in, and it was sound decision with the evidence in hand. We tried to resolve it with inspectors (which he kicked out), and there was no other option left.
What REALLY caused this mess was not learning from 1980 Afghanistan. After we armed, emboldened, trained, and financed (sound familiar?) the Mujaheddin and allowed them to defeat the Russians, we abandoned them. We left no education or government infrastructure, and created a massive power vaccuum. Osama Bin Laden was a CIA informant for the United States, coming from a wealthy family, and having many connections, he was very useful.
However, when we left and created the power vacuum, it severely hurt the people of Afghanistan. Osama Bin Laden saw us as the "great devil" and declared holy war on us.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki took the Bushido right out of the Japanese.
An absolutely crushing defeat is what it takes. I think it doesn't exist much further back than a hundred years because it takes industrialized warfare to affect whole populations in a short time. Before that it took decades to change ideas and even then I think it was done more through integration of two cultures. Rome being overrun by barbarians, for example. The barbarians didn't hate Rome, they just wanted to be Romans.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

It should be simple to see what I'm saying. If one religion is asked to be monitored or registered why aren't they all? And why I asked how you, or anyone for that matter, could tell the difference between a muslim , christian , etc. is to hear your answer. I'm not exactly sure what "living life" means. I'm 41 , married with two kids , had the same job for almost twenty years. Ive got a little bit of life experience. But , alas no choo choo money.

You need to write for the NY Times. You've also smoked weed with the defense attorneys too...

See above response. The Caucasian woman has not been named as being involved in this. Her exact relationship with the male shooter seems to be unclear. Multiple reliable sources have named the middle-eastern woman as the 2nd shooter, his wife, and one of the two killed. He came back from SA 6ish months ago with her and a freshly radicalized mindset.

PTSD has been around since modern wartime. Shell shock from WW1 and 2 was and is PTSD. It's not a new thing. Don't go throwing things like that around like it's nothing serious. I can give you name of close friends who I served with that have PTSD. Two of whom tried to kill themselves.
