  • Dr on Demand

Has anyone else here used Dr on Demand? I get sinus infections once or twice a year and was pretty miserable this morning so i gave it a shot.

It is easily one of the best apps ever. I had no wait at 715am, and was diagnosed via video chat. The prescription was sent to a wall greens near work.

So instead of sitting at a doc in the box for 2 hours just to hear what i already know...and waiting another 45 min at a pharmacy...i was able to wipe out the appointment in 15min and the script was ready on my lunch break.

    I strongly recommend it.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I don't know about that. Sure seems like a doctor would need to physically look at you to see what is wrong. Listen to breathing, actually look at your nose and throat, typical doctor stuff. Doesn't seem thst reliable. Kind of seems like people are self diagnosing, video chatting a doctor, and the doctor going "yep, here's some drugs".

I did it no insurance but the first appointment was free.

I think it would have been $40 otherwise. Well worth it to me...though i will search for one that takes my insurance.

I thought about that at first but Theyre limited on what they will treat and probably more so on what they can prescribe. Its pretty simple to have someone help on the diagnoses of a sinus infection.

On that same token i was misdiagnosed twice at a care now and ended up with pnemonia by my third trip.

When it comes to simple shit like colds, the flu, sinus issues...theres no benefit in wasting 3+ hours and spending more money to be told what you probably already know.

Sad thing is...thats all people want. Self diagnose and they just need to find some sucker into agreeing with their GoogleMD license. Medicine has gone to shit these days and many practitioners I work with will openly admit they will write scripts to get people the hell out of their office. If they dont, they can expect another 20 min argument on why the patient NEEDS a prescription for something. If you have insurance..its quick easy money. The more shit you order or prescribe, the higher the RVUs and higher billing, higher reimbursement. And to top it off, Obamacare brought us patient satisfaction in healthcare. I believe up to 4% of your medicare/medicaid reimbursement is directly related to a patient satisfaction survey. Thank you Press Ganey

Care now is fine for most things. If my doctor is closed and I feel like I need to be seen, Care Now is where Id go in a heartbeat. These local physician owned ERs will rape you.

We have Teledoc at work. I'm not on my work's insurance but my buddies say it's pretty good for routine illnesses where they already know what's wrong (sinus infections, ear infections, etc).

Now from the other viewpoint... I'm a family practice doc, have been for 25 yrs. IMHO online physician visits are a scam. In believe a proper evaluation must include not only a patient history but also a physical examination. Doesn't have to be a head to toe exam but at least a problem-focused one. Anything less is unethical at the least and dangerous to the patient in the extreme. Unfortunately they are here to stay because people want convenience and low cost above all else... even above quality of care.

People want a reasonable experience...not a 45 minute wait in a waiting room, followed by a 5 minute nurse talk and then another 30 minute wait for a 5 minute dr chat.

I think in house dr visits for minor issues are the real scam...youre just mad because your income will finally drop to its true value. Drs are not worth $200 for a visit to tell me whats already apparent. And if its a real issue...youre just going to send me to a specialist anyways.

Make the patient experience half as shitty as it is and i may consider it. But either i dont go to the dr at all...or i go to a convenient source.

You cant really compare the doc in a box to a family practice. Last time I went to the actual doc's office, I walked in, signed in, walked back and got weighed, sat in a room for a few mins and the doc walked in. I was in and out of there with shots and a script in hand in less than an hour, and I want to say it was about half an hour.

I've been to care now in Forney twice now. First was, what I thought to be a kidney issue. Second was a 1" shard of glass that found it's way into my foot. Both experiences were quite pleasant. Quick service, staff seemed competent.

The first trip was due to the pain and the fact that my primary doc is in Greenville. Not feasable to catch a mid day appointment without missing a whole day of work. The second time was an emergent type visit. Pulled a 1" shard of glass from my foot and wa sbleedi g pretty good!

Rarely do i have less than a 20 minute waiting room trip and about 10-15 worth of waiting at the actual patient room even with an appointment. This is with maybe 10-15 minutes of contact time. So what 25% efficiency?

Also, when was thenlast time you could get a same day appointment at a family doc?
