First and foremost, Spirit is probably the safest airline you will ever fly as Ben (the CEO) knows that a plane falling of the sky means it's a plane he cant use to nickel and dime people, plus all of the lawsuits that come afterwards would cost more money. He would rather spend the money to keep all the planes in good mechanical condition, even though they do look trashy on the inside.

I have flown Spirit four times. First time was Miami to Nassau to Miami.

Flight over, great. Flight back...they cancelled and didn't let anyone know. So we all show up to the airport and it's cancelled. Only flight of the day as well. My wife and I got the last seats on a Bahamas Air going back to Miami as we had to make our connection. Oddly enough they (Bahama Air) never billed my AMEX so we flew for free.

After DAYS of calling Spirits call center in India, I finally got them to give me 2 flight credits. So I flew from Atlanta to Miami for free and back. No issues...and it was free.

Wife and I used Spirit to fly to Phoenix to catch a super cheap sale to Honolulu. Saved us at least $400 over a direct flight from DFW. That paid for most of our condo rental. All we had to do was suffer on the Spirit flight.

Final flight with them was last month. Had to go to a wedding in KC and really didn't want to drive the 8 hours each way. All other carriers wanted $400 + for the flight, Spirit got us there for $274. I did splurge and buy the big front seat and boy those are worth it. Super comfy, lots of leg room and first to board.

Play by their rules, you will save money every day. They have become much better about cancelled/delayed flights from my experience.

Negative. Spirit has it's good and bad qualities like ever other airline. You can get ridiculously cheap fairs, but be prepared to deal with people without any sort of travel etiquette and long delays if there happens to be a problem with a plane.
It happens to be a well thought out and reasoned dissertation on drug use and a lyrical cost/benefit analysis of various kinds of drugs, drawing the conclusion that beer is the best of them all.

My family flew spirit to Orlando last year, they absolutely hated it.
I flew out on Southwest that same evening and didn't seem nearly as miserable upon arrival.

So when you step on an Eagle flight, look just to the right of the entrance door and you will see who is really doing the flying.

                  1)Skywest
                  2)Mesa
                  3)Envoy(the original Eagle)

                  5)Piedmont
                  6)PSA

Each company is separate, so you play hully gully with the carriers. Their on-time and customer complaints are the worst in the industry.

I like Mesa, when I fly AE. They actually have pleasant/attentive FA's.

The FAs have been fine, the equipment not so much.

All planes affiliated with Eagle are shit, so that's no shocker...

So I am back. Overall experience wasn't too bad. Going out there was a breeze, plane was fairly new and nice, leg room wasn't bad. Coming back the plane was delayed for an hour. Leg room was shit on the plane back due to reclining seats.

I would say overall it was 3 out 5.
