They would be doing just that if the price of the Oreo cookies or any sugary treat was artificially inflated on a massive scale because of legislation.

What do you think chocolate would cost per gram if the DEA was doing their best to prevent people from eating it? How about tobacco?

Cocaine would cost under $30 per pound if it was not illegal. The only thing that drives up the cost of it is the risk associated with getting it the end user.

How much do you think a pack of smokes would sell for if they were made illegal tomorrow? I know for a fact that a pack of roll your own Top tobacco sells for $275 per pack in the federal prison in Texarkana. Just ask yourself why that same pack can be bought at the store for under five bucks.

I don't think he is calling you out on the economics of trading in the illicit, but rather your statement that people would be robbing and stealing to support a steady flow of Oreos.

Just Oreos, hell no, there are other similar options, but if all snacks and treats and candy was banned. Hell yes people would steal and do all kinds of shit to get some.

Or they would, you know, make it.
"But what if they ban sugar?!"
Then everyone dies because our entire food system is dependent on it.

                  Correct

Bullshit. Snacks and treats and candy don't carry nearly the same attraction or gratification as do, to use the examples posted by svo, cocaine or nicotine.

Only the pre-packaged, processed food supply is largely dependent on added sugar.

Not only that but you can ban sugar but also get by just fine on high fructose corn syrup and other shit like that. There is a laundry list of things.

Honestly if they banned real sugar, I think things with real sugar would be like Cuban cigars. A lot of people would have them and it would be against the law but no one would care besides certain government officials. I don't think for a minute that people would be killing each other for sugar.

Really? You need to watch an episode of "My 600lbs Life". I believe that it is safe to say that there are WAY more obese people in this country then there are regular users of any type of street drug.

If you woke up at sun up today and found that all sugar and sugary products had been outlawed and pull from the shelves during the night you would witness cities around the country burning to the ground over the next few days.

I know that sounds ludacris, but I'm betting it would happen, now good thing they would never do such a thing, but don't underestimate fat people.

If nothing else, you're a sensationalist in your posts. I find the image of rampaging fatties extremely funny, thanks for the morning laugh.

The fatties would just get some cocaine to get them motivated.

Coffee and coca plants grow right next to each other. Caffeine is an organic alkaloid just like cocaine and it is extracted from the coffee bean using the EXACT same chemical process. Pure caffeine can be bought very cheaply and cocaine would sell for the same price if it was not illegal.
