Both getting laid off and working there. Both were horrible annoyances in my life. The company was shit and treated their employees like toilet paper. The department I was in treated the employees like children. It was only my last couple years of working there where I was given some flexibility, *GASP* freedom, and the permanent assignment on various AMC/Upgrade initiatives that I actually started enjoying it somewhat.

Which is a damn shame.

Maybe with movies I can see there no longer being a need for the actual media, but music is a different story. And it's a shame that music is going the same direction. The best part about listening to music to me is putting the media in the player and pressing play, then looking at the artwork, reading along with the lyrics (if there are any printed in the booklet) to get a deeper understanding. Now it's becoming load up a shitload of songs and hit play on shuffle mode. Not that I'm totally opposed to that either -- I do it while I sit here. It just amazes me that there are people out there that consider themselves music fans (don't we all?) yet most cannot even FATHOM listening to an entire album.

I do not want to stream OR download my movies. I want to physically place them in the player I bought to use. Sucks that I won't be able to get movies through the mail and swap them in store anymore. You can't do that with netflix, which will only go as fast the the Post Office lets it go.

I can't believe their business model last as long as it did. Next to go buying videos. I never got caught in the "must buy a video to sit on my shelf" thing. I don't own any videos, but I don't own any CDs or records collecting dust either.
