I have a preference for Daniel Cremeiux at Dillards but I only recommend buying them when they're on sale. $75 pants are a bit pricey. Pro88LX is right about materials. Cotton and Wool are best but synthetics are ok if they are blended with cotton and wool.

I'm not big on anything from Khols, Target, etc. They usually don't last nearly as long. I've got Daniel Cremeiux slacks that are 5 or 6 years old and still in great shape after regular wear.

Also, find a GOOD dry cleaner...

Yep, the last time I bought some shirts from them, to grabbed one of each color/ design. Good stuff for the price

Check out K&G they tend to have some ok brands at better than usual prices, also Burlington Coat Factory tends to carry the golf polo's (quick drying) at a better price than most places.

If you are looking for khaki type pants, then you should stop by Wal Mart and look at the Dickies pants, they tend to last forever and look as good as any other khaki.

Even if I could wear jeans, I'd wear khaki or slacks.

Go to Nordstrom Rack. Buy and get it tailored on site.

GAP actually makes some pretty decent slacks as well.

In the end the brand doesn't matter too much, but for God's sake make sure the clothes fit. Shirts that balloon around the midsection or have giant wizard sleeves, non-tapered / pleated pants with a full break and 1" cuff, etc will make you look like shit. You can wear the dressiest clothes you can find and if they don't fit will everyone will look at you like a kid wearing his dad's clothes. If you can, always go with the fitted / trim options and then work up if you need it.

Dockers has "golf" khaki's that look and feel good. They work for business casual.

I used to get all of my business casual stuff at Khols. Decent stuff and a lot of sales / clearance stuff. If you get polyester pants just make sure you have some of that static spray. lol

Fortunately I have been wearing jeans for the last 6 years, so only need to 'dress up' when going too our corporate headquarters in Houston.

The off the shelf slacks dont fit me well, so I would get suit pants and have them tailored. Too bad syms went under, that was my store of choice.

I usually go to JC Penny's and see what's on sale. I'm not brand dependent, but try on whatever to feel the comfort. I know I have a mix of brands. Usually get stuff with the "stretch o' waist" elastic, though.

For business casual, I've always gone with golf attire, especially in the summer the dri-fit style stuff is the way to go.

For business, button up/slacks, then i'd agree go get fitted and tailored, just like you would for a suit.
