PALM BAY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35)*- In his arrest report, police say Ronny Hicks appeared highly intoxicated, because his speech was slurred speech and he was acting confused. Since he was also operating a motorized wheelchair, the 54-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence. *Police say Hicks, from Palm Bay, was allegedly blocking the path on a pedestrian bridge inside a park near Margaret and Helen streets in Palm Bay. Police were called because of complaints.

During his first appearance before a judge, the judge approved the maximum $5000 bond, because it was allegedly Hicks third DUI in ten years. But DUI attorney Jason Hicks, no relation, says although the arrest is within the letter of the law, it would be tough to get a conviction for DUI in a wheelchair if it goes before a jury.

I had a co worker who got a DWI on a bike in Garland many years ago. He hit the passengers door of a car that was sitting at a stop light and got hurt pretty badly and that lead to his arrest. It was not his first or last DWI.

Once he took a customers car on a "Test drive" but he was really heading to report to probation and did not tell anyone. I believe that probation gave him a breath test and arrested him on the spot because he was drunk. They impounded the customers car and none of us missed him until the customer showed up to get their car.

This might be a bit off topic, but is one allowed to counterfile claims against litigious or frivolous actions from tickets handed by police?

AKA if a police officer hands you 12 tickets and most of them are bullshit but you still had to take much time out of your day to handle them, are you be able to file claims against the department?

The Highland Village PD made a sport out of writing me chicken shit tickets when I was a teen and it did not stop until they fucked up sooooo badly that the actual Sheriff of Denton County got involved. I talked to dozens of lawyers who told me good luck suing them and suggested that I just move.

There will never be a law passed that will prevent the PDs from "Just doing their jobs".
