What do you wash with? I'll go back and forth between soap and shampoo - not beard specific, just whatever is in the shower. Keeps my face from drying out.

Bar soap. If im buying its the cheapest bar soap i can find. If the wife buys...its whatever is in the shower. Before i was married...i had literally one product in my shower...hair and body wash in one.

DC 111/molykote and hydraulic oil are the closest i get to conditioner.

I just want to clarify that shampooing your beard is called personal hygiene, and is not hipster at all. The oils and scents, sure.

I actually just went back to a goatee after a several years with a beard (though I'm already letting it all grow back in again).. I thought about using the wax or oils as it started to get longer, when it starts to get out of control. But then I remember, the main reason I am wearing a beard (and use clippers with no guide on my head) is to minimize effort. Once I start having to use 'product', I am defeating the whole purpose.

Once it starts getting a little too long / unruly I just trim it back some with clippers and a 5 or 6 guide.
