I have heard a number of stories of people accidentally carrying, and getting through airport security without realizing they were. Particularly pre-9/11.

I bet it does happen all the time. I've only seen someone caught though and it was warning enough for me....

I was heading to a business meeting in Midland one time with a co-worker and friend. We were running late and he grabbed his bag and ran into the airport.

I ended up solo'ing that meeting. It was quite a PITA for him. I think after all said and done he was out close to 10K and basically lost his weapon over it. (Long story that I don't feel like typing out)

All over a simple mistake, but 'demz da rulez.

Oh he also spent the night in jail as well. Took us quite awhile to even figure out what jail he was in...etc...etc.

I do not agree with weapons not permitted in hospitals and especially sporting events when you have a CHL. Sporting events are where I tend to want it. Hospitals I sort of get because of the emotions that can happen, but I still don't care for it on principle alone.

To clarify, the ones I have heard about were typically in the carry on luggage. I am guessing the person manning the xray machine just wasn't paying attention.

That one is actually pretty believable. The number of tests the TSA fails on weapons and explosives catches is ridiculous.

I had an empty magazine in my carry on once and when TSA found it, they gave me all kinds of hell. Summoned the DFW LEOs and got upper mgmt to examine me. Cops were the coolest of the bunch going, ya...it's an empty magazine, what of it? They took picture of the mag, wrote me a up and sent me with an angry letter telling me not to do it ever again. I ended up putting my carry on through checked baggage and still made my flight. I give all my luggage the nth degree now, though.

Yup - admittedly the cops were cool with my friend too. Treated him fine, let him hand off some stuff to me so I could square things away when I got back that night...etc...etc.

Just after that it got expensive for him. I'll never forget the buzzers going off, the TSA acting like mortars were coming in and my buddy doing the Christmas Story "Oh fuuuuccckkkk" moment when he realized what was happening.

14 years ago I was scheduled for an interview for a management position at fiesta mart. The store I was offered hadn't been completely built yet. So the company used a local church for HR. to conduct interviews. I walked up to the front door. And was greeted by A man in plain clothes working security at the front door making sure No one tried to skip the interview line. I didn't know this man. So after conducting three separate interviews with three different people in that same day I got the job. Little did I know that the Mistry man at the door was my loss prevention manager for the new store. His name was Richard sells.
We immediately became best friends! No matter how bad it was at work I would always swing into his office and he would make me laugh and feel better about any situation. He was always very friendly always have a smile on his face would always ask you how are you doing and say hello to everyone. He was the kind of friend who would go out of his way above and beyond to help you out in anyway possible. Because he was so friendly and easy to get along with he has made a lot of friends. I have worked with this man for 14 years. Would always hang out with him and other friends having a beer and watching sports.

You fought a good fight brotha. You will be missed. RIP Richard.
