I went to the state fair once, the rides were like $4 a person for the sombrero hat ride and a corn dog was like $6.

As mentioned it is in the ghetto and an all day event. So I would rather stay at home and save $300 and not have to worry about getting my car broken into and deal with driving downtown

I usually just wash it down with enough beer that it doesn't matter.

Parking your car inside the fair, with a trunk full off beer = baller status?

Interesting. I enjoy the fair every year.

Against my better judgement, we're going this weekend. I haven't been since about 1985 and have done my best to avoid it since.

We ride the DART rail like poor folk, so I assume the on grounds parking to be somewhere around eleventy billions dollars, so yes, Baller you is!

I've been once, in the 8th or 9th grade, and I was pretty "meh" about it even then. I think they've just been milking the name/reputation for decades.
Now, the Travis County Fair is pretty legit. The Minnesota State Fair is also pretty awesome, and with WAY better food.

Nah, my car was in the car corral.

As do I. And I do pretty good at keeping it below a hundred. Not sure why everyone is throwing out 300.

Granted, we don't eat everything we see, but we get the experience.

My oldest daughter's b-day is in OCT, so we have always done the fair as kind of "her day", but it gets harder and harder to want to go each year. The area, the demilitarized zone going in, the huge expense and lack of value just get old. And the crowds don't help.

If the state fair had a to-go line i would never actually enter.
