Anyone buying a 100K crossover is probably looking for both the inside and outside to look nice. Not everyone wants a nice looking exterior to impress others....youre just speaking hater right now lol

But staying on topic of your form following function comment, how does a nice interior...especially a tesla interior...exemplify form following function?

You also have to realize that a lot more of that $100k goes into the emerging technology for the electric drivetrain and supporting technology, than in your traditional gas-powered cars. That same vehicle with a proven gas-driven platform would be much less expensive.

To me those falcon doors are nothing more than a gimmick.

It doesn't really have anything to do with form / function. I was just saying the exterior of a car isn't a factor to me. If it's more aerodynamic but less appealing to the eyes, I'd take aerodynamic any day.

The interior was me rationalizing that the out side can be ugly as long as the interior has both form and function.

If I'm dropping 100k on a depreciating asset like a car, I want it all. Good looking exterior with aerodynamics, bad ass interior and an awesome power train.

You can do what you want with your oil field money. I'm just saying when push comes to shove, function wins over form.

at least with tesla's you know your depreciation.

Its not bad looking I like the falcon doors those are one of the things that pushed back production since the car senses how high they can open in garages etc

I don't really understand why they did those doors. The windshield seems like it would make for an interesting driving experience though. The overall shape is pretty standard for something they are trying to keep slick. Looks like a tall, slightly less angular Prius.

Looks are subjective. I like the looks of the X as much as any SUV, which is to say, not that much. I like the Model S a lot though.

Just looking at the specs its a $130k vehicle but damn the overall package just isn't all that pretty. The model S on the other hand is a thing of beauty, and a tough act to follow up.

I wonder how much those rear doors cost per vehicle counting R&D etc.

The falcon doors were the thing that everyone liked about the concept and i think they had a petition to make them standard or something. People preordered this thing in like 2011-12 and has a giant waitlist.
