The OP literally said the epoxy solution has failed and wants a more permanent fix. Hes obviously wanting to go with a well made metal piece...and the difference it makes to me is helping the OP come to his solution and not jumping right back into what has failed him.

First off...are you telling me you have done exactly as you mentioned?

Secondly,

Some people enjoy the finer things in life. Not white trash engineered hack jobs.

I have done exactly this a few times, some more crude than others. The one in my impala is one of the better ones and unless I take it off and show you how it's done you'd never know that it's white trashly engineered.

If it's stupied but it works, then it ain't stupied.

I think I have some 3/4" (19.05mm) brass rod at work. Does it have to be 20mm? Turning it to get a nice pretty surface will take off at least .010" (.254mm) from the diameter.

Just checked and I have about a 18" stick of 1" brass. I can easily turn that to 20mm.
