  • I was one of those dbags with a gen 2 eclipse, paul walker blitz body kit and tall turbo spoiler. I sold it about 2 months after all that work because the hack job done for the body kit was horrible. For those 2 months...i was the king of the streets

Yes we have a pension system but no promises it will be around. I'm struggling with if my money should be going to Roth ira or if I should favor the 457 that is unmatched.
457 plans offer an extra catch up provision when you get close to the normal retirement age if your plan permits it that you don't get in other plans. They're also the only ones I know of that don't have early withdrawal penalties if you leave your job before your 59 1/2.

Alot of municipalities plans usually include free consultation with one of the retirement plans advisors, you might see if that option is available to you to figure what will be best for you.

      • my first car was a 97 talon tsi with a HRC sidemount IC and a 16G turbo, when that was the cool upgrade to have. I sold it for a 94 z28 after about a year.

Not really. I had this exact same model in highschool and I loved to pick on 99-04 gt's with their off road h pipes. They are also faster than a civic type R and any honda civic si including the current models

I have had 2 that were all body kitted up and my original had a full blitz kit about a month before the movie came out. I was king of highschool for the next 2 years.

These were both non turbo cars and both extremely un reliable with oil leaks and timing belt issues

This one my wife drove for about 2 years. We got it from a car toys executive, former show car with pearl paint and only had 68k miles. Timing belt broke the first week we got it, it sat 3 months then fixed. Put 30k miles on it in 2 years and the belt tensioner failed. Sold after fixed, seen it pop up a few times on craigslist, wrecked by the guy we sold it to, primered by the next owner, and last I saw was in the back ground of another eclipse for sale ad being prepped for paint

Thanks. That's about all I know as well and I really should meet with a professional. Roth also has increased contributions in your later years.

The big draw the 457 is being able to draw penalty free whenever I retire from the fire service. That's a big plus because I will retire well before 60. Also tax deferred would help reduce my income

Big draw on the Roth is being able to draw any of my contributions at any time without penalty. I would consider myself a guy who worries about the worse case so having access to a large amount of money would be great. I am also "gambling" on the idea that taxes will be higher in the future. My pension income will be significant at probably at least $60k/year but likely much higher.

The twin of my current gst had a 16g and a front mount and it snapped the timing belt and blew the end case off of the transmission. I had it fixed totalling about $5 grand and also sold it to buy a 98z28

              • I gotta say, I'm surprised to see the Eclipse love in here. Maybe it's an age thing, but I've only known chicks to drive those cars. Until they broke, that is. Then they'd get a Celica or V6 Mustang.

                          • I call it an eclipse although now I only see beat to shit third gens on the road, and to me that car is called an eclipse.

It's just an old school thing, you will notice no one said they loved their eclipse, they just had one at some point.

It may sound stupid but one day you could see a strong market for vintage "Japanese muscle"

                            • now that they are putting turbo 400s and powerglides in them, i am sure they will be showing up alot more. I think the only downfall is they brake so damn easy.

My thoughts exactly. I call it an eclipse and its just what was cool while in highschool. Thats how this stuff works, and i wouldnt hate having one for fun again lol.

Anyone who was just starting to drive during the F&F area will probably be more prone to enjoy them.
