When I lived at my parents the limit was two. My wife has no such rule but I am only allowed to impulse buy early to mid 90's Hondas without her authorization

My neighborhood is typical besides a neighbor down the street having a 2010 mustang roush

Men all drive trucks primarily ford, women drive ford explorers. The alternative serious businessman drives a camry and his wife drives a sienna.

You are correct. The blue green chameleon car I owned twice, the second time it was a piece of shit with every typical fbody problem. I fixed everything and slapped a new trans in it and sold it.

Maroon one is the wifes, it is bone stock

Thank you. I've owned old blue for 8 years now and she is one of the main reasons I've never needed a new car. She was my project car but when I went off to college she was the best daily driver I could have ever imagined. She has gone 8+ years of racing, daily driving, burnouts, and daily driving. She's also the main reason I was able to afford the house, that and the fact that no new cars could keep up with her until the past few years, I've never had a car payment or money pit

Pace setter long tubes to true duals. No cats, no mufflers, just a long duration lopey cam echoing for the neighbors

The camaro rarely gets driven anymore as I've been more into restoring imports. Neighbors have to deal with the dsm that is my current daily driver

06 silverado hd is wife's choice for daily driver. We bought it to move her into the apartment 5 years ago when gas was $5 a gallon for $5500. She long ago hid the title to prevent me from selling it

The civic was my daily, sold her to buy the only dsm in the state of Texas that wasn't rotting or broken

So I'm down to 5 cars currently with the camaro fusion and trans am all in the garage

Man its hard finding a good DSM. I blame Paul Walker. After the first movie people started beating the crap out of those cars. First car I ever financed was a 1991 white Talon TSi back in 93. Thing was a blast. I like those second gen ones better but as you said, just so hard to find a good one.

BTW, Advanced has those studs for $2 and the lug nut for $5. Fix that damn hub!
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

              • I am too cheap to get a payment. I have no debt other than our home and feel like I would be short changing my retirement with a payment. It's crazy how many of my fellow firemen buy all sorts of brand new shit. I just chuckle to myself as I know what they make and it's not even doe skin rug money. Yes we have a pension system but no promises it will be around. I'm struggling with if my money should be going to Roth ira or if I should favor the 457 that is unmatched.

I'm no expert on 457 plans, but from what I've read/heard the 457 is the better option.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

They are all destroyed at this point, and frankly they are terrible cars to work on. They are notoriously un reliable and make terrible daily drivers. They are the one car I can always negotiate down on price, some one is always selling one because it is broken, or they just paid to have it fixed

I bought the car from the original owner and he said Firestone forgot to put the key for the lug nuts in the car. I used the left handed impact tap sockets and got them all off, next day at work I got the new lug nuts.

This will be my 5th dsm. I have been browsing craigslist for 5 years trying to specifically find a bone stock non shit pile first or second gen.

The eclipse is the exact reason I deal with cash cars, if I see one I want, guess what I can afford it. That being said it takes a while to find a good clean cash car

Also besides for every dsm I've ever owned, I usually make a substantial profit when I do sell a daily driver

                            • I had a 95 GSX back in 98. Fun car until a lady ran a red light and totaled 6 months later.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

I feel the same way. Being this way though has allowed me to recently walk away from about $100,000 job with nothing lined up so I could spend more time with my son. No debt except the house plus alot in savings means I don't have to stress and the wife's salary can cover almost all monthly expenses. There has been zero stress about me quitting when I did, so to anyone who may feel weird about trying to be debt free and have no car payments, it is fucking worth it. I have been out of work 2 months and we havent even depleted half the checking account we started with, and haven't touched savings.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.
