I've got a Dark Shadow Grey 02 SuperCrew with the 5.4 and a little over 210K miles on it. Still a solid truck and the only faults it has it some small body damage. Leather is still good, everything works although the front windows are slow to roll up now. If I had bought an FX4 originally, I wouldn't be considering so strongly buying a new truck. It's been a solid truck for me since I bought it brand new.

Hmm.. I'm not sure I understand what you are describing.

Mine is 2002 dsg F150 supercrew fx4 lariat with 135k. I love it but could use the extra cab space an Expedition would have vs my bed.

My front seat motor has shit the bed and the seat has started to tear at the seam. Solid truck other than that.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I'm the opposite, I haul to much stuff and need the bed. Wow! Surprised with as low of miles as you've got that you have problems with the seat track motor and the leather; although my leather is aftermarket and not Ford factory. Easy enough fix I would think.

Fixed, assuming you are talking 3v with its inherent timing chain tensioner failure.

Maybe, but he did put "MPG" on his sign.

If that is the case though, his 16 claim would be what?...like 8.5-9. That's way worse than any others I've heard of.

I'm looking for an 04ish with similar options and less miles to put her in, and Ill keep the 01 to drive/backup car.

The overhead compass and temp is a 20min fix. Remove and then repair solder joint... piece of cake. Takes longer to take it apart.

I would definitely stay far away from the 3v but the 2v is great. I have been looking long and hard for a rust free 01-04 supercrew. Not sure how it will do towing but ill survive.

People dogging the 5.3 must be high. I towed my 24ft boat and trailer no problem. My truck was the less power. 2004, and I could pass people with no problem. The boat and trailer was north of 5k lbs.

I guess you've never broken a spark plug in the head of an 04-07. Those ultra long ones

again, 05 was the first year for the 3v 5.4 in the expedition.

My 01 F150 Supercrew 4x4 has been pretty good to me. Has about 165K miles and haven't had to drop a bunch of $$$ into it. Main issue with it as of now is the rust holes on the top of the cab. When it rains, it rains inside my truck. Water leaks from the overhead compass into my cup holder. To get it fixed will require cutting out the rust and replacing with new sheet metal then painting. Not sure if it is worth the money to do. Front suspension needs some replacing. The upper control arms need to be replaced for sure. An ex girlfriend of mine (I don't have any pics of her) keyed it all over. I have full covereage insurance on it but not sure if it is worth doing a claim to fix it. Will probably need a whole new paint job.

It seems like the transmissions are hit or miss in these things too.
I worked at a chevy house back in 06 and the gearing makes a big difference. I bought a new z71 5.3 back then with 3.42's and a couple of the other employees got theirs with 3.73's and the difference was crazy. If I towed anything with mine, it was hunting for gears all the time. Towing the same stuff with theirs, it was fine. Mine felt like a 4.8 compared to theirs. They also got about 3-4 mpg better than me and we had similar commutes.
