No way Jose. Keep an eye on CL and get a 4x4 CC Ecoboost for 15k or less.

Maybe that silly canadian math. Liters vs gallons? Kilometers vs miles? Too early to really think about it but maybe???

        17.5 mpg = 28 kpg.

Passed on the F150 truck. I now have an other co-worker who is thinking of selling his 2006 Chevy Silverado Z71 Crew Cab with only 46K Miles. Truck is clean, garaged kept and has some aftermarket wheels and tires. Has a few extras as well. I've never looked into any GM products so don't know much about these trucks. What are your thoughts on them? What kind of pricing seems fair for this truck?

You seem to be drawn to trucks with underpowered V8's compared to other more powerful options on the market. The Chevy 5.3 (assuming this one has it) is a gutless pig.

My tournament fishing partner has one and it does moderately well with no load. Throw a 21' Skeeter behind it and you shake your head every time you move. God forbid you get into a situation where you need to pass a slow moving vehicle on a two-lane highway. Just settle in behind the slow vehicle.

My dad made the mistake of buying an extended cab with the 5.3 V8. He only took it for a short test drive and ended up hating the truck within weeks of buying it. Luckily it was used and he didn't pay much for it so he was able to get out of it without losing his ass. That truck couldn't even climb a decent grade on the highway without downshifting. Throw his small aluminum boat behind it and you would've thought you were towing 20k pounds.

A 5.4 is gutless, only way I would buy a 4.6 is if it was a steal and I was just going to flip it for profit. A good friend has an 06 F150 with the 5.4 and 75mph is maxed out towing his 18ft bass boat.

Would much rather have an 06 Chevy even if the front end on that body style is ugly, assuming it has the 5.3 or 6.0.

Your dad and fishing partner must have both gotten flukes.

I've been driving my mother's 03 Tahoe for the last four years and it has plenty of power, even at 235,xxx miles. I've pulled several cars behind it, including my 72 burb on a 04 3/4T chassis (that is a heavy sumbitch) I've had our 3cyl tractor with the brush hog behind it, as well as, a 22' Skeeter, never had an issue. It'll do 80 mph all day long towing. Dad had a 00 Z71 Ext Cab that was the same way. Used it to pull a trailer load of ATVs and hunting gear 350 miles to the lease every year.

                  6.0 or 5.3? lt3?
I would rather pay $20k for the 06 z71 than the newer F1shitty.

I forsee them being the next C10 craze in the future.

This sounds like a review of the 4.8 or whatever it is. You're the first person I've ever heard of complain about the 5.3.

I've driven three with the 5.3, one of them quite a bit, albeit with a boat behind it every time. All three were turds. Guess I've got good luck with choosing the gutless ones.

A buddy of mine has an 04 Tahoe and he hates the transmission. He did say that the 04 out pulls his 06 by a mile, both with the 5.3L. His Tahoe has 3.73's and his 06 had 3.42s he claims that makes a difference, but my Tahoe has 3.42's and dad's truck had 3.73s.

It seems like the transmissions are hit or miss in these things too.

At 235,xxx my drivetrain seems solid, but the Tahoe is falling apart around it, squeaks and rattles everywhere. I was hoping to see north of 300K with it, but the squeaks and rattles are getting to be too much.

I'm thinking I'll pick up grandpa's 2010 F150 and put a few miles on it.

I'm impressed with the 01 5.4L expedition I have my wife in right now, 273k, and aside from cracked leather seats and the overhead display not working, it's extremely solid, and with her driving grandma style, it gets 20mpg average.

I'm looking for an 04ish with similar options and less miles to put her in, and Ill keep the 01 to drive/backup car.

Just don't buy an 04-07 with the 5.4

I'm a Chevy guy, I had an 07 f150 with the 4.6 and it was ok. I did not like the transmission having a basically floating neutral instead of locking in gear like my Chevy does
