I understand that too. That's why I think I am just going with the Tivoe(15), Netflix(9),Sling(20) and have it all direct debit. That is $44 versus $130. That's about $900 in my pocket for the year.

For anyone interested in FireTV stick + Kodi... Here is a video on how to "jailbreak" it by installing Kodi.

Then you need to install the TV Addons.

There are shit ton of add ons that do all kinds of different things. I really haven't even scratched the surface and I'm very pleased.

This might be too general of a blanket statement, but I think Americans have started to find they can find other ways to occupy their time. They are realizing there are other things to do and don't see the need to spend so much on television. The 20 and 30 somethings are driving this change IMO. Everyone that I know in their 20's really don't follow TV shows.

The cable providers have to be shitting bricks.

Antenna works too, but you won't get Thursday or Monday night games with the antenna.
You get the first 6 games on Thursdays on CBS

I dont watch TV for the most part. Occasionally Ill watch something that my wife has on, but even that is fairly rare. We do sit down and watch a movie occasionally.

I've also discovered you can install kodi on a jailbroken Apple TV, or a Raspberry Pi. Also works for the FireTV (not just the stick).

I don't really think this is true. TV is arguably better than it's ever been and people are watching, They're just accessing it in different ways. Cable companies' days are numbered, but TV isn't going anywhere.

great info in this thread! I also run kodi on a Rpi2 and it's great, when it works, the FireTV has been rock solid, the Rpi2 not so much(unable to boot, issues with sd card, etc).

Yes, I agree with TV content being better than in the past.

I think the bottom line is Cable companies are going to HAVE to make the programming a la carte. That's basically what everyone is doing when cutting the cable. We aren't completely STOPPING watching TV, just narrowing it all to what we WANT to watch.

My install on the firetv stick was painless and took 20 minutes. I, accidentally, posted the wrong video on my Facebook feed, and Christian had hell getting it installed due to it. We spent hours trying to get it right. I had to go help, and nothing went easy. Though I think it was the fault of my video, and him getting incomplete files from somewhere. We finally scrapped it all and started over using the video I posted in this thread.

I installed it on my PC to test it out earlier. I have Sports Devil for sports. Is that what you're using? And what are you using to get movies?

I really just watch The Soup, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Better Call Saul, Gotham, baseball, and football

You know, with the money your saving on cable/satellite TV, you can actually go to the games every Sunday. Even paying for air/hotel on away games, you'll still be ahead in savings!

I tried to watch the Rangers game on Phoenix last night. I got the "Working" spinner for a few to several seconds, then it just went away without an error. I tried watching the Angels/Astros game after that, and it did the same thing. I'm assuming it just couldn't find a good stream for it, but I've gotten error messages from other sources when that was the case. Have you run into that yet? I'm leaning toward server side rather than client side because I tried this from my phone and the girlfriend's laptop, both with the same result.
