  • Cutting cable: how to watch/record Cowboy games?

I've got things figured out as far as streaming services go, but I haven't been without cable/DVR in so long, I'm not sure what to do here for football. Thoughts?

Subscribing, I wish nfl would offer ala carte "team" subscriptions already.

Go watch them at the local sports bar? Or get a cheap antenna.

          Fire TV stick with Kodi.

Antenna works too, but you won't get Thursday or Monday night games with the antenna.

            Here ya go:

            [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-HW-150PVR-HomeWorx-Converter-Recording/dp/B00I2ZBD1U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442797955&sr=8-1&keywords=homeworx+pvr+150[/ame]

All you need is a usb hard drive to record your shows to and an OTA antennae to pull in your local channels.

works just like an old school vcr from the 80's

This is exactly what I have been looking for. DVR plus Netflix that works with OTA signal.

What is great about Kodi? I've never heard of it until you mentioned it

I have a Tablo to record OTA. It works well. I play it from my Roku 3's. Only complaint is I wish they would come out with a Samsung app for the one TV in my house that doesn't have a Roku.

Yep, been running this for a few months and it's kick ass for $40

We bought a digital converter that has DVR capability when you add an external hard drive to it. I have yet to use the DVR function though. I'm out on Tivo because of the monthly fees.

Kodi is like an operating system, but you can run tvaddons which gives you access to all kinds of free content. Ice films, Genesis, Stream all the Sources, etc. New movies, tv shows, etc.

yea, the $15 fee is disappointing, but $130 a month is a kick in the nuts.

I don't disagree, but my whole purpose in this was getting rid of cable to get rid of the monthly bill. I hate monthly bills. So let's say you have Netflix ($9), Hulu ($9), and Amazon Prime ($99/yr), Sling ($20/mo), then tack on a $15/mo DVR, is it still worth it?

We had Netflix, Prime, and Hulu before getting rid of cable, so there isn't any added expense there. And honestly, as I play more with Kodi and the add ons, Netflix and Hulu may be cut as well. I'm going to have prime regardless because of the free shipping, and the streaming content is really just a bonus as far as I'm concerned.
