Just wait until he tries to go through TSA with that, on his way to Washington.

Brought it for engineering teacher to see.

Next class English teacher hears it and freaks out.

Irving pd shows up and says it looks like a device from the movie waterworld.

I want to know why it has a 9v plug and a 110v plug. There's nothing about that that says clock. There's a lot about it that says "Mohammad's first bomb"

Lol...my arduino can be both plugged in or run on 9V battery...ZOMG i accidentally bought a bomb.

From what ibe read...he actually dismantled an alarm clock and modified it...clocks have backup batteries for power outages.

            Are you really that paranoid?

Have you never had a clock with a battery backup?

You've known me how long and you still have to ask that?

Tell me, if he had shown up with this and it had exploded, would everyone have said "Oh, that poor boy was profiled! It was just an alarm clock, it looked like an alarm clock, I have no idea how anyone could have thought differently?"

No. Looks like a suitcase bomb. If someone had one of those in a college class I was in, I'd make it a point of removing it from the area. Yes, I've had clocks with 9v backups however they were part of one system and in a case that looked like a clock.

                Ever seen an IED?

Thats not a suitcase. Thats a pencil case. Its maybe 4"x8"x3".

I understand the concern, but the school did go too far with the expulsion...unless there was a prior.

Ten-year-old Nathan Entingh doesn’t understand why he got suspended from school for three days.

So now it is a problem just because this kid isn't white?

I think this is classic overreaction and a case of the bad guys winning because of how we take something. I built all kinds of stuff as a kid and had tons of science and engineering kits. You could easily have thought some of it was 'bomb like' in appearance. At a glance, yes, this looks suspicious. Should the school have looked into it? Absolutely. Did they need to haul the kid away in cuffs? Not until they verified there was something legit that warranted that action.

The first teacher that saw it should have taken the clock from him informing him that it was cool but not a good idea to have at school. The teacher could have simply given it back to him at the end of the day with instructions to not bring it back (and noted it in his records). End of discussion. Once another teacher saw the clock, protocol should have been to notify administration, evacuate the area, detain the kid there until he's either cleared or needed to be hauled away, and notify proper channels to investigate the 'device'. Had that been their reaction, it wouldn't be a problem.

I'm more upset that everyone is calling it profiling. First, call a spade a spade -- who is using IED's to blow stuff up? Second, every person who brings such a device to a public place should go through the same process handled as described above, not the rush to slap cuffs on and haul him away. Just my .02.

Maybe this is how they blow up the white house!

See, I'd have been okay with all of this but I don't recall Obama calling the family of the kid expelled from school for eating a poptart to look like a gun for a visit to the WH. Or a scream from the population and media about it.

If we're going to be cool with Ackmed with what looks like a bomb, then dammit, little Jimmy with his fingers like a gun saying "bang bang" should not result in arrest and expulsion.
