  • Private Health Insurance

Looking at options for private health insurance.
Might take a job that pays 15k more a year, but they don't offer health insurance. Currently paying $799/monthly for UHC through employer for family, just Me, Wife, and son.

    What are my options?

    Bend over.
Expect a minimal $1000 month with deductibles upward of $12,000

So basically anything you are gaining in Salary you are losing in Healthcare costs.

Also losing a few other perks and bonuses, but we won't mention those

If that's the case, then don't do it.

I hate to say this, but Obamacare might be your best bet.

I'd go without insurance before paying that.

My wife is basically uninsurable now, but 6 or 7 years ago before going through some shit she got a policy through a Golden Rule, which is a division of United Healthcare.

She now has a $2500 deductible then 100% coverage past that as long as we never miss a payment, and it costs us ~$350/month. We'll see how long it takes until Obama takes it away

Uninsurable? Pre-existing conditions have to be accepted now...

True... I guess that term is "pre-obamacare," but for $350/month no questions asked? (no, i have not priced it out)

Can't complain about the rate she's got. That's only $30/mo more than the cheapest plan available to me through my employer, and that's with my employer paying half the tab.

                            Because 15k more per year?
All depends on if I can find affordable insurance.

Is that 15K a year inclusive of the bonuses and perks youre losing?
