The mustang needs a big weight loss and dual clutch 8 speed auto more than direct injection.

I wonder how much tires had a play in this. The articles ive read say the SS is using some pretty high end tires, but i have no clue how said tires compare with GT tires..

Pretty much sums it up. If they re-did the interior and freshened up the exterior I might bite. Only GM product that might sit in my driveway will be a a new Vette in white...maybe...

Anything that runs deep 12s isn't going to do so on those shitty ass Pirellis that Ford keeps putting on the Mustang.

I love the overall pony car profile that the Camaro brought back with the last gen (as opposed to the catfish years), but I just don't care for all of the details. I mean, I like them and I'm glad they exist, but it ain't for me.

                        I remember that.

However building prototypes for testing is a long long long way from production. You're still going to be looking at a major redesign. Then there is testing, testing, testing.. retooling the entire plant (like Ford had to do for all F150 plants), etc., etc., etc...

I'm not saying it won't happen. It just won't happen soon. Ford went 10 years between platforms for the previous and current generations of the Mustang. They will get very penny they can out of their work before moving on to a new design...

GM was smart to focus on cutting weight. Their drivetrains are strong, but their cars have gotten so portly.

It also pays off in braking distance, fuel economy, and overall longevity as the drivetrain doesnt have to lug so much around.

Ford should be firing back with either direct injection, an aluminum body, or both.
