  • Dealing With Furniture Store

About 2 months ago I found a bedroom set that I liked after looking around at many stores local to me (Corpus Christi). They didn't have a floor model to see but showed it to me online. I went a head and made the purchase from Rooms To Go. Total before tax was $2850 for the bed, 2 night stands & the dresser. They delivered the bed about a week later and i quickly noticed that the side rails were not lining up with the head board and foor board. They are sunk in almost a 1/4" on all four sides.

Called customer service and they sent out a Tech to take a look at it. He said it should be all lined up so they ordered a new bed. New bed came and same problem. They sent a 3rd one with no luck. Still didn't line up like it should. All 3 delivery drivers/installers told me that they have set up plenty of these beds and none of them line up. Basically a manufactures defect. I've been back in forth with customer service and the only 2 options they want to give me is to reselect a different bed room set or keep what I have and discount it $150.

My problem is that they don't have anything else that i want. Asked for a refund and they said they can't refund me back. And if i do a reselect then I would be saving about $1000 but they would only give me that in store credit to use on something else. I don't need store credit, my house is already furnished. I'm going to swing by the store after work today to see what i can get done about this. I've had to take off of work for all this shit already and make time to be home for up to 5 hours waiting for them to deliver every time. Anyone ever have this issue? Any advice would be much appreciated on how to approach this situation.

    Thanks...

My advice for you going forward is never buy furniture from Rooms to Go again, I've never had a good experience with any of their stuff and refuse to buy anything there again.

Post a pic so we can see it.
Would the bedspread or whatever you use cover it up? Is it sturdy, or does that 1/4 cause it to move?

I'll have to post pics when i get home. Yeah the bed spread would cover it up. It's still sturdy and doesn't move just looks like shit.

This kind of shit is common with cheap furniture. Rooms to Go is nothing but cheap shit (quality). I'd try to email the CEO. Explain the situation in detail. Show pics if you have them. Be courteous, but let them know what an inconvenience this has been.

They may not do anything, but Home Depot has been really good to people in situations like this, where the CEO was emailed.

Forgot I had pics on my phone. Those were some quick ones I snapped. If I hadn't spent almost 3K on it then I wouldn't really make that big of a deal. They have bedroom sets for way less than what I spent in there. I'd keep the set of they credited me back a considerable amount but they said $150 was the most they would do.

Keep pushing for a refund. You might have to pay a restock fee and the sales person will lose their commission. Fuck them.

I wouldn't pay shit, it's their fucked up merchandise not something I just changed my mind about.

Rubber mallet and smash it back into place!

Or, as Brent said, email them and ask for a refund, not a store credit. Or worst case, live with it.

Unless you told me that was wrong, I would never have guessed it.

How did you purchase? I buy stuff with my AMEX and pay in full each month. If this happened to me, I'd call AMEX and tell them the story along with showing them what RTG said/told me. AMEX would take the charges off my card and deal with RTG so I don't have to do it.

                          CEO's name is Seaman, Jeffrey

Jeffrey Seaman, Founder and CEO Morty Seaman, Founder Wyat Rappoport, President Robert Kirchmeyer, Vice-President RTG has been trying to deliver us a “non-damaged” desk for nearly two-years (since August 27, 2019), but has failed every time. The last attempt was supposed to be February 2, 2021 with the understanding per your representative that if the desk delivered was damaged, we would keep the initially damaged desk that was delivered and you would refund us $100. The desk was damaged - again! To add insult to injury over the last two years and nearly 10 attempts to deliver us a desk that was not faulty, you representative is now trying to renege on the agreed amount for the refund. What is going on with the customer service there?? Could your company could care less about the customer? Are you not wanting us to be a customer ever again? Alta Y.
