I forgot to mention, we actually have a softer memory foam topper on ours too, which makes you really sink in.. Pretty awesome.

Jared - The colder it is the firmer it will be too, just FYI. Not sure if you are letting the temps get really low in the house there.

I'm not sure if I like it yet. It's very firm. I'll need more time to decide how much I like it. The last one we had was a Restonic foam mattress, and was extremely soft. It felt like sleeping in it instead of on it, which made it really warm. We had it about 8 years and it definitely had the valleys where we slept.

We went balls out on this new one, so if it doesn't rock my world and last 10 years, I'm just going cheap next time.
Baller! Thats like a $5000 mattress!

Id rather buy a new cheap one every 3-4 years.

He doesn't have a cowskin rug yet, but is definitely getting into DFWM Balla status.

This topic seems to come up often. I am still enjoying a cheap firm mattress with a 3" thick memory foam pad from Target on it. The mattress was probably no more than $300 and the pad costs $75.

It offers plenty of support since the only thing with any give is the pad. And the pad itself is comfortable and keeps me cool. I may be a cheap bastard but I sleep very well.

            Yup, it was me.

$599 for a queen memory foam. Still use it and the wife and I still love it.

My buddy worked for all the major mattress companies for 18 years as a regional sales manager and sales vice president. He got tired of all the overpriced mattresses out there and went out and started his own company, same quality if not better at 50%-70% off what the box stores are charging. I had no idea the markup on mattresses.

I ordered a Casper back in February and it seems to be pretty good so far. I sleep better on it than I did with a conventional mattress.
They gave me a link for referral that is supposed to give you $50 off -

                    Use it if you like.

I wanted to wait until I had the spelling of his business name correct. The name is Sunwest Mattress. You can find them on Facebook. If you would like the owner's name and contact information to visit with him just let me know. They just launched this month.

Exactly that much, and they wouldn't haggle. Said it was a Tempurpedic rule and the prices are regulated like Apple or whatever. But, they did throw in $300 worth of mattress pad and pillows for free. Yippee!

I figure we spend 1/3 of our life in bed, and I'm a big guy, so I didn't want to cheap out. I hope I'm happy about it down the road. Time will tell. The last one we had was almost $3k and it was kickass at first, but started sucking more and more after a few years. I was snoring all night and waking up sore. Firm beds don't feel as comfy to me, but I do sleep better on them.

Hell, we were pretty amped up on getting the dual mattress setup that was motorized and shit, but it was gonna double that price. I felt like I was making the frugal decision just getting the mattress only. Maybe that was their plan.

What I was about 13-14 I had a waterbed. And it was the most comfortable thing in the world.

We were gonna go pricey...tested several and were almost sold on the 10 year longevity of a tempurpedic then i did the math.

We felt several memory foams, picked the most comfortable few and went with the cheapest. I figured replacing a $900 mattress every 3 years still comes out cheaper and its always fresher.

But i know f***all about true mattress details and this may be a seriously flawed plan.

Ive always bought mattresses from Brad's, and they are much cheaper than the name brand. They have a 30 year warranty or something stupid, so you can take it back and get another in a few years if it sags or whatever.
