I found a hell of a deal on a little Dakota. She's a 2000 SLT, 4x4 with the 4.7L V8. After some negotiating I got her for $800 and drove her up onto the trailer and brought her home. Everything works except the AC isn't blowing cold, you can hear the compressor cycling but it's not cold, and there's a slight tick with the engine that could be an exhaust leak.

The interior doesn't look like it's 15 years old and I love a new project.

I think so. I had to go to Mineola to get it today and was nervous pulling it back because pulling things freak me out. I tend to hit stop signs, gas pumps and so forth.

Well this one is knocking though I can't figure out why. Oil is clean and fresh, it's response to the throttle and the knock just can't be pinpointed.

Then again, I'm not a mechanic

My mom had 250k on her 4.7 with no issues. Sold it still going strong.....

Considering I just sold a beat to hell Chevy with 230k and blown head gasket for $3300 i would say $800 is a hell of a deal on a decent truck that drives.

A truck running and driving generally is worth at least $1k, even beat to shit. Being 4x4 it makes it 1500-2k almost for sure.

My buddy just sold an old beater f150 of his for $1300. It had 210k, shitty interior/exterior, low end knock, water pump gasket leak, oil leak, water mixed in the oil, and various other issues. It sold in less than 2 hours too lol
