I lvoe tulips so I would prefer them over roses. I don't see her being upset cause they are not roses. Send her whatever her favorites are.

I think I will just go to the local shop in town. I usually tell them how much I want to spend and they make what they can with that, and I don't think they charge to deliver. $15-20 to deliver is outrageous. IMO.

Don't get me wrong, it feels good to get flowers randomly but I'd never want Brooks to spend that much on them..
          But that's a sweet gesture.

Im glad my girlfriend understands that flowers die in a week and she would much rather have something else. not that it lasts any longer than 15 minutes but it gets the job done!

Yeah, flowers are pretty and all. They're nice to get, but I don't give a care if they're delivered to me by a florist or not. It actually means more if a guy gets flowers from the store and delivers them himself. He spends less money, and he's put more effort into it than just making a phone call and giving his credit card info.

Now, there are exceptions. If there's a considerable distance between the couple and he sends flowers, the thought is well appreciated.

Edit: I'm not going to bitch about ANY amount of effort a guy puts into doing something to brighten my day, but like the other girls have said, there are much better ways to go than the ridiculous mark-up on flowers and delivery charges, and I'm a cheap ass.

but wouldn't you rather get them at work so you can show them off to all your work friends?

It's just that spending time with you means going to Hooters or having sex. Maybe I want you to do the things I want to do. Would it kill you to go antiquing once in a while? Maybe stop by the Sewing Hut, instead of the hobby shop, one time?

I just want you to care about what I care about Paul, that's all!

LOL You would get TONS more props from her work friends if you were to take your lunch break and deliver them to her. That kind of stuff makes the girls gush and say, "Awwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! How SWEEEEEEEET!"

And I telecommute, so the dog already knows that my man is a badass.

I have heard this from my wife before.

                                $100 for flowers? That's nuts!

Alan rarely buys them, since they die! Not a good 'investment'! lol

I think tulips are nice, something unique is always good instead of the standard roses. I wouldn't spend more than $40-$50 on flowers ever though. Then again, I am cheap and practical.
