  • NEED an old buick VIN decoded!

1970 Buick...had GS stuff all over it and a 455. Trying to figure out if this is actually a real stage 1 convertable.

    Vin is:
    4 4667 OZ112870

Anything else you buick fanatics may be able to decode let me know. this thing is "barn fresh" and the price is the kinda thing you only read about in stories.

I am assuming you've already done a search on the net for VIN decoders?
I did a basic check and if the VIN plate hasn't been altered....ITS REAL as in its a 1970 GS455 Convertible
I'm not finding a way to verify if its a STAGE I but I bet if you posted up in some Buick Forums they might can help
heres a breakdown of the VIN:
    4: buick
    46: gs455 (1970)
    67: 2dr convertible
    0: 1970
    z: fremont california
last 6 digits are production numbers

Check for a build sheet under the trunk lid and see if you can find the code SS stamped anywhere. It could also be under the seats or possibly in the glove compartment.
SS is the only code I found for STAGE I 455. The difference is either 350hp for the regular 455 or 360 for the stage I with the same torque.

    According to my source there were 232 GS455 Stage I Convertibles built in 1970, 1 with a 3spd manual, 67 with a 4spd manual, 164 with a turbo 400 automatic.

I didnt look at VIN decoders yet..figured someone here knew enough about them to be able to tell me if the vin checked out, and id get a little more acquainted with who the vintage buick fanatics are (because, I dont have much room in my garage, and if I get this, it will be for eventual resale, possibly even shipping back to the mainland) and...I have ALOT of questions, but judging from the INSANE amount of exotics the seller had in his collection, there is little reason why I think this car wont check out.
