5.0 in 1979-81?

I was just watching an episode of CHiPs when appeared a red 79-81 coupe that clearly had 5.0 badges on the fender. I thought the 5.0 first appeared in the 82 GT?

This was NOT an 83 grill. Definitely the earlier grill.
I'm trying to figure out the name of the episode to find a screen shot.

Found a blurry shot and now thinking it was just a "turbo" emblem. I could have sworn it was 5.0

My '66 has 5.0 badges (sort of). There's been plenty of time for someone to add them.

I had an 82 Mustang GLX that had a 255 in it so you might be wrong about that.

I bought an '81 new that had the 255 in it, and that was the only V8 choice for that year. I do remember fender badges from earlier years, but they were always 2.8, do not remember seeing 5.0 until '82. I checked all my brochures from back then and even the '82 brochure didn't make mention of, or show, a 5.0 fender badge.

Well I also had an 82 GT and that did not have the 5.0 badges either. Pretty sure they didn't come out till 83 or 84.

I traded the '81 in on a new '82 around Jan or Feb of '83 (still on the lot, old stock, really miss those days). It had the 5.0 emblems, but only on the drivers side. Didn't even notice it until I got her home and was cleaning her up. Gotta love 80's Ford build quality.
