Company says they will pay for the move and are putting me into an extended stay for 3 weeks until I find something permanent.

Albuquerque has a huge drug related crime problem. You will need to safely secure anything that you leave outside

Yes there is. And a Texas Roadhouse. And snowskiing. There is however...no Northern Tool

Texas Roadhouse was founded in Indiana and HQ's out of Kentucky.

I like ALBQ. Local fare is solid and the mountains are close. Life seems to happen a lot more outdoors than it does in Texas, but that is to be expected.

Thats fine. Find me a job locally that pays 60k+ that I get a company truck, bonuses, and I'm not on the road living out of a suitcase 3/4 of the year.

I could say something flippant, but I'm basically in the same boat. It's starting to look like I'll be moving to North Carolina for more money and career advancement.

This is pretty much how I landed in CA, the same could be said about Sacramento, and couldn't be happier about how life has unfolded since. Texas isn't going anywhere, if you find out that you don't like it out there, you will be that much more prepared to move on to the next episode.
