Getting back on track....
For a while my wife and I watched a series about lottery winners throughout many years.
This kind of reaction it typical, regardless of color, age group or income level. If you have more than they do, they expect you to give it to them.
And....
It does not even have to be a large sudden windfall. From personal experience and from stories told by friends throughout the years:
If you manage to climb above the bullshit that your relatives have chosen to wallow in, you are expected to give them money. And when you don't, you're the "bad guy" and you "think you're better than them".
You are spot on. We have relatives like that and it blows my mind. Then when you try to coach them into pulling themselves out of the shit, they get mad and dont want to put in the effort. But they still want the handouts
