Yeah you're not supposed to do that, some cruise lines will search your bags when it goes through the x-ray.

Q: Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) onboard?

A: Guests are not allowed to bring beer, hard liquor, fortified wines or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use on boarding day or while in port. Alcoholic beverages seized on boarding day will not be returned.

This. When I went on my cruise they actually x-rayed everyone's bag/purse coming back on the ship. They would take any bottles and not give them back til you arrive back in port.

The cruise we went on allowed one bottle of wine. You could always drain that sucka and fill with vodka, everclear, etc and recork

At port I brought a flat type bottle back on in my waistline. Make sure it has a plastic cap as they checked us with metal detectors.

If you're a big drinker, it's probably worth it... last CCL cruise we were on, we met a couple from Louisiana, they both had a drink in hand every time we saw 'em. They really got their moneys worth from that drink card.

Us, not so much...probably had two or three alcoholic drinks each during the whole 7 days.

Hate to agree with you, but this sounds like the best idea. They make some big ass bottles of Listerine. Some of those small covert flasks don't seem to hold much. Guess you could always buy a few different types. They might be onto the whole listerine thing though.

It's worth it to me to pay for drinks on a cruise or at a resort. The whole point is to check out, not worry about every nickel. Real all-inclusive packages, or bust.

I'm sure they'll make you buy the package for everyone over 21 in the cabin and if you are caught cheating the system they'll revoke the pass.

Rum Runners and the like work great, stash them in different bags and inside shoes. Or if you have a Sodastream you can carbonate clear drinks and refill Sprite/7Up bottles. There are ways to remove and reuse the caps. That and you can probably bring a bottle of wine per person, it's easy to refill those and recork/shrinkwrap.

Also when you do come back into port the person running the x-ray machine is never the same one handling the bottle check in line. If they are real busy you can play dumb and walk by, or just hand off one bottle.

I usually cruise with a group of VERY hard drinkers and it's hard to get your money's worth on the all you can drink packages.

The Royal Caribbean Drink Package is nice especially if you drink Starbuck's and coffee in general.

I bought a single package, as my wife doesn't drink nearly as much as I do.

I would typically get her a Starbucks in the morning, take it to her then get myself one. Then later in the morning for breakfast I'd order a Mimosa at the bar on the way to the table (for her), then order another (for me) at the table.

Lunchtime I'd order a Bloody Mary at the bar on the way to the table (for me), then order another at the table (for me). Repeat as needed.

Lounging at the pool I'd order a few Captain & Cokes or a fruity frozen cocktail of some sort, go fuck yourself, they're delicious.

Before dinner we would go to the R Bar martini bar and have those guys make us some real artisan fucking martinis then head to dinner. I'd get my wife one to go and we'd head to the dining room. We spent most of our time in this area, the bartenders are really top notch.

Dinner would usually consist of several single malts, but be specific, the ship has different bottles in different bars.

After dinner we would stop by the Martini bar for a drink for the wife, and we would check out a show. I'd usually get a drink once we got there.

Last but not least is the Cigar Lounge. You have to check it out if you smoke. There is also a waitress in there with a liquor bar. Drink of choice in there is Cognac or three.

As you can see, the drink package is well worth it in our case, and as someone else mentioned, the experience of an all inclusive trip makes it feel better, in theory.

Protip: tip your waiters and bartenders, they remember you by day two. They will know your name, and by day three you probably won't even have to say what you want.

depends on how many sea days you have and how much youre gonna drink. Just went on a 12 day celebrity mediterranean cruise last month with 10 stops and my step brother would buy a bottle at every port, empty it into a water bottle and bring it back on the boat. I just got the premium non alcohol package which was like 24/day. we were in italy greece and turkey and it was HOT so i took a few big bottles of water every day so it was worth it to me. as CWO stated above you can work it with just 1 drink package card.
