One rule I make sure they understand.

    1) I want the car or I wouldn't be here, BUT you need to sell cars. I don't need to buy one. I can get in the car I have and drive home just fine. I always have a very nice, very reliable, driveable car. I'm not "needy." I make them understand they need my business more than I need their new car.

    2) I don't care about your overhead. I'm not sitting here with all of my bills or bitching about my alimony to you.

    3) Let's make this snappy. I always take both sets of keys so I can drive off at any moment if they are dragging the BS out.

I've bought more cars than anyone I know that isn't in the fleet business.

And if I'm going to stay there, I take snacks and video games. Most things can be handled via e mail or over the phone. And no deal is worth a damn until the sales manager initials it.

And always, always get free window tinting when you are in the signing room. Make that guy whip out the "we owe you sheet" and put full window tinting on it. They pay jack for window tinting compared to what you will pay and mark it up all to hell. I've gotten all sorts of free accessories at the final time to sign point.

And guess what knowing what you are going to overpay going in really helps. Know what the interest rates are, know what your trade is really worth trade-in value wise, know what their car is really worth invoice wise. It's even better if you can have a pre approved check in hand from your bank. The checks are approved "up to" but you can spend a lot less and you know the interest rate before hand.

And remember in TX you are going to get fucked by sales tax on a car.

I've never owned a boat so I'm out of my element here but...12 year note? That seems insane to me

a lot of those big 30'+ boats are on 30 year notes. A guy I met told me his $300,000 boat was financed basically as a mortgage, for 30 years.

*which if you think about it makes it a lot more affordable if you actually use it that often. but he told me it was about $700 to fuel it up for the weekend. FUCK THAT.

we already know that this thread is probably one big ass lie to begin with, so we can either entertain him, or just talk amongst ourselves, while he tugs at our pants like an annoying ass 4 year old.

I'll take you out on it sometime. Do you fish?

Also the interest ended up being 7.0. I was wrong, I admit it. Fuck anyone and everyone who can't deal with a small error. Doesn't really matter though, I've never paid out the full interest on anything. It'll be paid off in 5 years.

There was a reason that they wouldn't come off the price and I think what you said is probably right - someone ahead of me screwed them on that trade in and they were trying to make it back off of me. My wife went out there first to look at the jeep (I was out of town) and that may have had something to do with it also - car salesman trying to take advantage of a female.

Another possibility is that they have a dumb ass salesman that probably didn't sell anything and doesn't work there anymore.

                      Oh well, their loss

Some of these pontoons these days are getting really high. The luxury ones ran up around $70k. But they were 28-36 foot boats. Mine is only 22'.

If I bought a boat it would be for cash regardless of price, I got out of the financing toys game when I got rid of my Z06. Even the Raptor I put over 50% down on, but its a DD/work truck. I prefer to have a friend with a boat.

Well, I guess $choo choo then. All I was saying is that I can't afford it with some ease, I ain't doing it. Doesn't fit into the plan. And the plan is, don't get shit you can't afford so when the SHTF, the payment is too high and is fucking you in the ass trying to make it for awhile. Everyone has SHTF times in their lives.

Depends. Some people use them as vacation homes on the lake or straight up live out of them.

In the marinas I see, it seems the most expensive boats never leave their slips. I saw one biggish cabin cruiser leave one time over the 2-3 years I've been out there.

With gas prices, I don't blame them and they have nice setups on the lake. Although with that much boat I'd be paranoid with all the cabinets...etc...etc having a snake hiding in it..etc.

I look for good deals and try to execute when I find em. But I get impatient as fuck and either just leave or bug them till they give me a fair shake. I've been at dealers all day before if I had to, sometimes going and coming back. Once I find a guy, I usually repeat business with em as you show up and point at a car and they basically just cut the shit a d give their 2nd best deal up front... when I bought my last car, I asked dealer for any wiggle room, he only lowered it 200 bucks, but my payment went down 50 a month cause he got me a point and half lower interest.

I suppose I can see that. Like I said earlier, I know nothing about boats so that was just my initial reaction.

However, if it's not large enough to live out of, then it seems silly spending 20K (plus interest!) financing one for 12 years.
