Um, not sure why you are getting your panties in a bunch. I answered a question that was asked. I vote not jumping on any bandwagon until the 35 goes into the wild in greater numbers.

Also the F-35b is only about 6 mil more than the F-35a until full production but the f-35b doesn't have estimates for full production costs yet so I can't use those numbers effectively.

The F-35 is surely a far more advanced piece of machinery, no doubt about it. My only point in posting was to answer a question.

I seem to remember the F4 being initially built as a fighter plan with no guns and we got to dependent on shooting missiles. With the newer fighters having internal weapons bays, it limits the amount of missiles you can carry and if you still have to fight and can't run, your shit out of luck.
Yes, the F-4 was designed with out guns, as per the quote, the theory was missile could do anything and guns were obsolete. That obviously was proven false and it was fitted with the SUU-16 & 23 gun pod. More enemy planes were still shot down by missiles, but when it got to be close quarters, the pilots now had an option.

Lol panties in a bunch? Sounds like you took what i said waaaay to offensively. I was simply saying if you want to compare to a past generation fighter you probably should only include the variants that are closer in operational deployment. No need to be so sensitive.
