  • "Chuck" won't return a kid's phone. Perhaps he needs persuasion.

Someone close to me, their 12 yo son lost his iPhone at Six Flags last week. He is a great kid. Boy Scout, good grades, and earned the money himself to buy this phone. His parents are far from rich. Mom was able to trace the phone to an address in Dallas. Arlington and Dallas PD's won't do anything. The person texted back to the Mom on their cell admitting they had the phone. "Chuck" wanted a reward before he would return it. They tried to get him to do the right thing. He claims they no longer have it now. Maybe "Chuck" will wish he had done the right thing.

Sounds like the kid will learn a lesson. Take care of expensive shit you gave your hard earned money for.

Sounds more like a random rather than a reward. I find it hard to believe Arlington won't do anything about it. That is disappointing.

To a point I agree, but is it criminal to keep a cell phone that you found? If not it's a civil matter that PD has to stay out of.

The first fuck up was buying an iPhone. The second was loosing it. The third was not just offering the guy $50 for the phone. Probably have it back now.

Charges can be filed if the owner makes the complaint, has proof of ownership and the person that found it (and now in possession of it) knowingly keeps it from the owner after the owner made an attempt to get it back.

It would be a civil matter if the owner let him have or borrow the phone or if they lived together.

Remote wipe and brick the phone. Chalk it up as a lesson learned.

Second would have been to cancel that iphone service after being in contact with that guy and knowing you wont get it back.

Let's go to civil court for a 400 dollar iPhone where no one wins.

Give the guy a $50 reward so you can get the phone back and then sign him up on a bunch of movers websites.

Small price to pay for getting a $400 phone back.
