I usually don't give telemarketers the time of day, but I guess I was bored or lonely and figured if nothing else I could ask some questions. The initial caller took down some info and passed me on to a woman by the name of Tracy Williams. She gave me her direct number, but frankly I didn't write it down. I told her if crunching these numbers was going to require me to give her my SSN or DL#, I didn't care to continue as I don't give this out to anyone who called me. She encouraged me to check them out and call them back if I changed my mind, but in the mean time she was happy to answer my questions. We chatted a little and all got me thinking. She did say they are a brokerage and she told me they would be selling the loan to one of two companies they work with. Neither of them I wrote down, but not names I recognized.
I put a call in to my current mortgage company to talk about my options with them first before shopping around. If I could really lower the rate without a full refi, no closing costs, no appraisal, then I am going to look into it.
