I never have to do that. Do you have a Polaris type pool cleaner? I also have Pebble Tec, I've been told that helps tremendously.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Yes I do, but my grout/pool surface is older (~15 years). Some areas have worn down and are more gritty, so yellow algae likes to grow there slowly if I don't keep on it.

        Got it, makes sense.

I got a hand-me-down old Polaris for my pool years ago. The pool itself was rectangular, and I think that caused the Polaris to have all kinds of trouble. It would get stuck in specific places by the steps, where the combination of angle, curvature, and the flap losing suction at the edge would cause it to hang up and rise / fall in the same spot for hours. The hose would also occasionally get tied in a knot too, lol. I lengthened and shortened it several times but never really got it right.

So instead I would spend a half hour every Saturday morning on basic pool maintenance; sweeping it out, testing, adding chemicals. It was actually kind of therapeutic.

40 a week would be around 67000 a year, before fuel, supplies, etc. I thought about going in with a friend who had a pool service in the dallas area, so we could then cover more of the metroplex, and eventually hire a couple guys to do the regualar service.

I had a polaris, and pulled it for a couple of reasons. One big one, is that I have an english mastiff that cant stand for something to be moving around in the pool, and he pulls out the cleaner. He did it one day first thing in the morning, and it pumped a few inches of water out before we got home to find it. After a few polaris bags and a burned up pump seal from running dry when he pulled it out, I turned the timer to the booster pump off and ditched the then torn up polaris. The other thing is my wife teaches, so the last two days her and the kids have been in three times a day. I would have to pull the cleaner in the morning and put it in at night, every day. I havent had one in the pool for several years, I just dont have much that gets into the pool for it to clean. It would be more time effective for me to vacuum it myself once a week.

Or pay someone to actually clean the pool...

I'm doing it myself for now. I really like having someone come in during the week to knock it out, but not wasting money on a piss poor excuse for a pool service. I wish my buddy that was doing it still could, but he moved and it's too far of a drive to make sense for him. He was awesome, and worth every dollar I paid him.

Sounds like the HOA dues of $425 a year are worth the jr. Olympic size pool in our community. Of course I have to put up with milfs and high school chicks in bikinis, but I'm not complaining.

Oh and no bad mondays on any day...

I am with you on that.

My wife drops hints all the time about wanting a pool. I don't want to mess with it, much less pay for it.

I feel my OCD would kick in and I would be out cleaning the pool everyday.

That's no shit. I figure I've spent somewhere around 10-12k on having a pool over the last 6-7 years.

I have a pool guy that does it on the side...I always take before and after pictures the days he comes out. He's a well trusted dude. But all he knows is how to clean pools.

Speaking of which. Anyone know who someone who can come check my pool pump? It stopped working. I checked breaker/power which is fine. I did cause a breaker to jump but fixed that and only pool sweeper is working. Sorrry Barron not trying to de-rail your thread.
