  • I need someone that works for Chrysler

I am at the end of my effin rope with the Chrysler "service" department in Stephenville and Granbury.

My girl has a 2012 Jeep Compass with their super crappy transmission. We have an extended warranty. It has now been to Bruner Dodge in Stephenville once and Mike Brown Dodge in Granbury twice. No one gives a crap and wants to actually fix the car.

This is the issue. Occasionally the transmission will not shift into overdrive on its own. It has the "manual" shift ability, and you can manually slap it into 6th gear and it drives just fine. She drives 80 miles a day roundtrip. This happens at least once a week while she is driving. It has happened while I am driving as well.

Well wouldn't ya know, no one at either dealership can seem to duplicate the issue. Mike Brown Dodge has not bothered to contact us even once letting us know what is or isn't going on. I have had to call them multiple times, and not one single person there cares in the least or has any intentions to provide customer service.

I need to find someone that will actually look into this for us. Mike Brown Dodge stated that they opened a "star" something request but Chrysler won't do anything about it until they see it malfunction. To me it doesn't sound like they are even looking into the issue. They have had the car for 2 full weeks now and somehow have not managed to find any problems. I only found this out after calling them, for the 4th time, because no one there could be bothered to contact us and fill us in.

If anyone works for Chrysler, PLEASE give me any kind of info or suggestions. We HAVE to get something done.

corporate can't do shit. social media won't do anything

they can't perform warranty work on something that they can't replicate, and no technician is going to burn 5 days driving around to try to diag the problem

if you need a transmission, tear that mother fucker up!

A google search indicates that its not exactly an isolated issue. a competent dealer should be able to fix it properly. I have been happy with Huffines service. Call them and see if they have any experience with the issue

Especially on extended warranties that low-ball the fuck out of the labor.

Why would a person purchase a jeep compass? I would be upset if I had a jeep compass as a rental, let's get down to the real problem here.

Oh and btw, its probably the NAG transmission, its pretty simple fix if that is the case.

Yup. If they cannot replicate the problem then they cannot fix it.

If they can't reproduce the problem you're kind of in a bind. Dealer techs don't troubleshoot. They plug in the Star Scan Tool and look for trouble codes. Obviously, your vehicle isn't throwing codes. What I would do is schedule to take the service manager on a test drive. Secondly, I would call Chrysler Customer Care and discuss the issue. They will contact the dealership on your behalf to check status. This may or may not make the dealership escalate the ticket.

Being that you have a Compass, I'm surprised you don't have a CVT. Most of the rentals I've seen are CVT, not the 6 speeds.

If his post is correct then it doesn't have a 722.6 transmission. We refer to them simply as dot6. The dot6 is only a 5 speed auto and he said it goes into sixth gear when you slap the shiter. I work on the original models of these before they were dodged up and I dont truly know how different the control unit side of things are. If it does indeed have a dot6 transmission anything wrong with it WILL set a code. Seven times out of ten, if it gets stuck in a gear and will not upshift, it is because the driver has unknowingly hit or pressed the manual shifter. This is the only time it will set no codes and not upshift on our cars.

What car do you have? They can be made to handle some pretty high power levels but not insane levels. They are stonger than the dot9s which is why all V12 cars still used the dot6 til 2013 I believe. To be completely honest I dont know what specific parts need to be replaced but I can't imagine its hard to find out with a little bit of research.

I found a few sites that sell upgraded units, I was more or less wondering if its feasible to upgrade to a 6 or 7 speed auto, sounds like its not worth it. The 700hp units are about $4,000. I should be around 630rwhp and closer to 700rwhp when i upgrade the engine internals and play with more boost.

I'm trying to figure out how to do everything best practice so when the time does come to replace an item, i'll be at least some what informed. These little tips help me a lot.
