The biggest concern I've been hearing about is potential flooding due to the ground already being saturated from previous rainfall.

uhh... I haven't heard shit about it. I mean, I don't watch the news, but all I've heard is people talking about rain. until they give this bitch a name, I'm not scared.

"they just did, it's Bill! lulz"

so I check the media... they're predicting 2-3" of rain. oh nosephine!

on the weather channel and all these media reports, they have this GIANT fucking storm on the radar... so I check actual regular ol doppler radar, and it's just a blue storm with very little green.

        I just told her "I guess I don't give a fuck"

I went to Kroger last night to get some sushi and they had a fucking truck unloading pallets of bottled water, and every fucking dipshit in Alvin was there buying 10 cases each.

I was just making fun of the whole scene the entire time.

        I fucking hate stupid people...

From what I saw yesterday they were expecting 10-14" of rain. :confused

I just barely got out of Houston this morning on an 8:25 flight, watching the radar at the airport it wasn't looking pretty. This was after getting delayed leaving Chicago yesterday due to mechanical and storms causing me to miss my connecting flight in Houston.

what I saw yesterday they said 2-3"

I guess we'll see how it goes. My house is 3ft above the FEMA flood elevation line.

again, the radar images they keep showing on TV look far different than the online doppler radar displays I'm looking at

                    Exactly.

Actual radar right now vs TV news right now = weaker shit than we had the last few weeks vs impending death and doom

I'm currently under a band of that same color that's been swirling around on the radar the whole time, and it's just sprinkling...

obviously mother nature can humble you in an instant... we saw it happen to far too many people last month with all the rain.

but the media's tendency to overhype everything is the very reason I had essentially zero knowledge of this "big storm" until yesterday... I'd heard people talking about rain here and there, but no storm warnings or anything. I just don't watch any sort of news any more. It's been working well for almost a year now. I hope I survive

A buddy's wife works for Oxy in downtown Houston. Yesterday was her first day back after their honeymoon, and they announced the offices would be closed today. Lucky little shit.

I just walked 2 miles out back under that big swath of blue... my t-shirt was barely damp. I couldn't get a really good pace going because the ground is really soft/muddy, but I did carry some ~40-60lb chunks of concrete up and down the road just to do something different.
