I would have been birthed into a rich family. That way, I could just smoke dope and surf on a pristine beach. I think that would be the happiest way possible.

      Law school.

I've recently contemplated starting an installation company, and leaving my current gig. It may happen, may not. Not too worried about it.

I would have invested more in myself and taken on more school debt. I didn't want to deal with the college education debt but looking back, I should have bit the bullet.

            I like it!

But really the best option would have been to stay single, I may not have been rich but I would have money.

I took the point of the question to be how to get richer earlier on in life. Being 70 with a fat retirement account doesn't sound near as fun as living a life a kin to Dan Blizerian.

you know, owning a home, having a spouse, couple of kids, and having a few bucks in the bank is rich to half the us.

I get that, but to some people 'rich' means 'independently wealthy' -to the point that you don't have to work.

Retiring at 67 with a modest monthly pension in your 3/2/2 Fox & Jacobs house in the suburbs isn't what people dream of, it's just what happens.

I would have bagged the soldier when I was 19, worked my way through college no matter how much I hated school, and contributed to my 401k every paycheck since having a full time job.

I can't say this would have gotten me rich, but I'm sure I would've reached my current status a lot sooner.

Yeah, I guess you'll need to define rich. Let's assume for D/FW since that's where most of us live.
The existing board definition for good/GOOD money is:

                          8MPG: $40k/$70k
                          ruffdaddy: $90k/$150k

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Using your life lessons to go back and become a baller.

Never said that either. Im the least wealthy of my friends. I see what I should aspire to by looking at the good people I chose to surround myself with.

Kinda like my grandfather would tell me, "if you are the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room"
