  • A little boy I know is in the hospital

A little boy about 2-1/2 or 3 years old that goes to the same home day care as gearjammer Jr. is in the hospital. His dad forgot about him being him in the car while he was out running errands, and he was in a closed car for a little over hour yesterday around midday.

He's in a coma; we're waiting to hear more news.

Every summer I hear about this. How in the hell do you forget that your kid is in the car?

whenever i drop my kid off at day care i go back out to the lot 3-4 times before lunch to make sure i dropped him off, i see how it could happen, it'd be a nightmare.

we taught ours to say "all done" whenever we turn the car off, just a good reminder, but if they are asleep and you are preoccupied...

Hopefully the kid will be ok but I doubt it. Lowlife father should get life in the lockup. I'm not sure how you "forget" your kid is in the 130-150 degree car. Even the dumbest stoners remember this.

          That's so sad to hear.

I can't fathom leaving my son in the car. I've never been THAT preoccupied.

People need to just slow the fuck down in general.

Wow, maybe just a little harsh? I can't imagine a parent regretting anything more than injuring their child. Even a dumb stoner lowlife dad.

kids are your most precious possession in life, but you can easily forget them if they are asleep and you are thinking about other things.

I've lost track where they are in the house, store, or front yard/backyard, but I never forgot they were there with me. And I've never NOT known they were in the car.

While I absolutely agree that the whole thing sucks ass, that's a complete shit thing to say.

You put "forget" in quotes... what, do you think he did it on purpose?
Really, he's a lowlife? He's lower on the scale than a "dumb stoner?"

Understand that this guy's life is now wrecked. You will never be able to imagine the pain and guilt he will carry from that day until the day he dies. Understand that he would probably trade body parts or even his life to be able to undo that.
But to you he's a lowlife piece of shit deserving of a life incarerated? He wasn't sitting in a bar while his kid overheated. He wasn't getting high, nailing a hooker, or kicking puppies. To say he's a piece of shit is saying that you have never done wrong in your life, and that's complete horseshit.

I'm not saying give him a pass. I agree that I don't think I'd even forget something like that, but fuck, man. Be a human for a minute.

When you put your kid in the back seat, take your left shoe off and set it on the seat in the BACK where the kid is. You won't forget your kid ever. Problem solved.

Until that one time you forget to take that shoe off...

I think everyone wants to think they would never or could never forget about that, including the parents that actually do it. I've been pretty damn preoccupied with things and I've done some dumb shit because I run on autopilot sometimes. Ever paid for gas and not pumped any? Then ran out of gas a few blocks later? I've done that.
