Our two cars run $113 a month through progressive. Full coverage on the X4, and basic liability on the Fusion.

Well, spent a lot of time calling around, checking what I could get. Allstate ended up beating the lowest price I could find to retain me.

Morally, I should leave them just to spite them for money raping me for so long.
Financially, they got it to a price I like.

In the end, the point that won me over to stay is that when I've needed to work with them, it's been a painless process for me.

Thank you everyone for your input and references.

I actually didn't give them a price. I called, told them why I was calling, they said my agent wasn't in and they'd call me back. When they called back, they offered me a price below the cheapest quote I found while still adding some extra coverage for me before even asking me what I was looking for.

Thanks for looking out, I hope we can give you a better deal on your next renewal.

I'll check what happened with your gift cards. We were using Target gift cards back then, and have switched to Visa gift cards.

I switched auto to a friend who is a Liberty Mutual agent, after getting seriously screwed by a mentally challenged State Farm agent. Saved me a BUNCH! Also in the process of moving my Homeowners over to Liberty. That one is actually costing me $100 more per year, but it is for way better coverages that I specifically requested. If you want his name and number, pm me and I'll get it to you.
To be fair, that's not quite a true statement. I managed a group of non-standard agencies for a big non-standard agent umbrella here in Dfw. I had friends insured with daily beaters, to Vipers and Vettes and claims were handled just as good as any other carrier. (Of course, I knew which underwriters and carriers had the best overall customer service and claims service) My wife actually just bought an independent agency herself this week.

Thanks for looking out Tim. Let me know prior to your next auto renewal Tim, we'll check to see where we are this time around.

You probably were on an old policy, new policies have different rating factors then before. Anyone here with an old Allstate policy may want to check with their agent to see what options are available now, both auto and home.

Geico gave me a quote yesterday that was higher than what I was already paying before shopping around. They ended up having the highest quote of everyone I talked to.

It really depends on quite a few factors, Insurance Co.'s are out to make money, nothing more, nothing less.

You have a great driving record, clean credit, no DUI's, no DWI's, no 172 tickets, no fender benders and if you drive sheeple type cars, you can get a great rate.

Any variances to the above mentioned requirements and you will pay and it doesn't matter who it is underwriting that shit...

Pretty much about sums it up.

Unless it is a non-stardard carrier however, most don't check credit or even MVRs for that matter. Most of their clientel are either unlicensed or issues with their current DL. They usually will however check MVR when you are in need of lets say an SR22...that gives them reason to believe that of course you need an sr22 for a reason.

Non-stardard carriers for the most part will usually rate a policy by zip code/territory, vehicle symbol and drivers age. Young drivers either get a great rate with one carrier, or a CRAZY expensive rate.

I get that, but when they're all taking in the same factors, and one charges almost %50 less than the other when provided with all the same information, ones out to make more money (a crook) than the others. Did some chatting around the office, and those who have had Geico at one point all saved money by leaving Geico. I'm not saying their terrible or people have never had cheap prices with them, it just doesn't seem that way after a survey of my peers.

Different things get rated different ways by different companies, at different times. Which is precisely why you should shop it at every renewal. There is no benefit to being loyal anymore.

You still stay at the Crest Ridge address? is that correct? I'll get one mailed out first Monday morning, I just want to make sure it's the correct address I have on file.
