  • Anyone here own a franchised business?

Looking to start diversifying a bit. Too many eggs in one basket now. Curious what franchise and how the process was? PM is fine with me. Have some questions!

    First!

But, no, I do not own one.

I didn't realize how crooked some franchises can get. I have read horror stories about places like Cold Stone Creamery and such.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I have wondered about some of these smaller pizza or sub places you see in gas stations, I wonder how they would be in a larger spot.

What is your profession/area of expertise? I would think that staying in a familiar market would be the easiest.

On a side note, had a friend that owned a Sonic back in the day. She loved it for the first couple of years. After that, she hated everything about it and mentioned on more than one occasion that Sonic is a horrible company. She sold out back in '07 and never looked back.

I know several people that disagree with that. Their franchisees do pretty well. It's more possible than not that foodservice just wasn't her thing.

You may be correct. She never went too far into detail as to why.

I never said the franchise didn't do well, just that she hated it. The store made damn good money.

My fiance wants to open a sushi place locally. She loves sushi and hates driving to Fort Worth or Weatherford just for it. Kinda makes sense, too. College town seems like a good place for one, but I don't know shit about all of that.

My apologies for not being more clear. I was more referring to the "Sonic is a horrible company" comment. Every Sonic franchisee I know loves them.

The franchise controls everything and gets a big chunk of your cash.

Midland needs a Twisted Root if we are making requests.

The cleaning part just gives you a captive audience to sell remodels, repairs, and upgrades to and that is where the big money in the business is. As far as the cleaning side goes there is plenty of money to be made but it relies on volume.

I did the franchise thing on a green light auto parts store but got out of it in 94'. You just get fucked left and right unless you are one of the first franchisees in on the deal in what later becomes a large national brand such as CiCi's Pizza.
